re: Per Sopsher - Offer Rodney or you don’t have a shot

Well one school (LSU) has purportedly already told him those pieces are in place. So if that is the school you really want to attend, then why would you need to wait to see what the other schools can do with their numbers? LSU has (again purportedly) already figuratively (perhaps literally) cut the check to pay the asking price. Thus, there is no reason to wait unless you really don’t want to go to LSU and are hoping someone else agrees to pay your price at the last minute.
He has said he is not verbally committing to any school until NSD when he and Rodney sign their LOIs...it's his decision to not verbally commit...now or until then...because you, or I or the coaches want him to.
I don't like it either and neither do the coaches, but you can't make him do what "we" want until he is ready.
Deal with it...

Nothing would please me more than him ending up at Ole Miss because we got other guys

Can the brother play at all? Can he at least offer a little depth?
I was about to ask the same thing. I mean he should be able to at least play special teams or something. I don’t think O would bring him in for the free ride just to get Ish. We’re not that damn desperate.

I don't think the coaches even know the answer to that until he gets on campus at fall practice.
I've never seen it posted that he has ever camped at LSU for tryouts (Rodney).

Whats more absurd securing the number 1 Defensive tackle (a huge position of need) 30 minutes from LSU because we offer his brother who is also a defensive lineman or losing him (once again a position of need) to our in division opponent to face for 3-4 years and giving them yet another win in the state of Louisiana
What’s absurd is you thinking Saban doesn’t have a counter and that he’s not behind having Ish say these things.
Where the frick have you people been the past few years???

Ok, I'll play your game...let's see your "proof"...not arguments, conjecture, rumor, speculation or supposition...that does not count, let's see real proof...
Let's see facts and statements that come from Saban, Alabama, or the Sophsers…

I 100% agree. Ish clearly doesn't want to play for LSU. Seems very selfish and is a giant red flag IMO. I hope it's worth it.
If it was a 5 star QB, I would do it with no hesitation, but the 5 star DL just haven't turned out well for us, but I hope I'm wrong.

He’s basing this on recent recruiting battles with Bama.Saban has played LSU on several occasions and this seems to be yet another

What’s to stop Rodney from sending a LOI in to LSU and Ish sending his to Alabama?

If this would somehow be pulled off it would be pandemonium here

The Surtain thing was totally different...it was assumed he would commit to LSU for about two years and reverses the night before NSD...that is not happening here...
If true, this will be Saban's best and greatest "Charlie Brown" of them all to date...I don't believe it...Saban can get others, just as good, with less baggage, time and effort. Saban is over this and moved on.

Surtain was never committed to LSU. It was assumed he was a strong LSU lean untill things went south the last week. Even then he lead Raymond and O on.

Totally different. It wasn’t a demand from Leonard to play with lanard. It was a recruiting tactic.
Posted on 1/2/19 at 9:20 pm to LsuTool
If he loved LSU so much he would already be committed.

What’s to stop Rodney from sending a LOI in to LSU and Ish sending his to Alabama?
Also:
- do not HAVE to sign a NLI to get a scholarship; just the financial aid papers. So we can simply not send him one.
- NLI is automatically voided if a player doesn't qualify academically. Still counts against our 25, but not against the 85 and both the school and player are released from obligations (with no penalty)
- The school has 14 days to file the LOI with the conference (or NLI program); if it isn't filed, it will be declared invalid (a form of acceptance by the school)
So even if Rodney had signed Dec 19th, we can delay acceptance (for any reason) until the end of the 2nd signing period theoretically.
Typically that's how grade risks are handled; or in the past before the new(ish) 25 limit rules.
The only way I can think that SENDING the LOI to Rodney affects us is that it rules out a Blue Shirt scenario. Even if a recruit does not sign, you send an LOI (or any offer in writing) it negates the Blue Shirt.

Isn’t this the recruit who just got horrible reviews at the under armour camp for getting his butt kicked.
