This will have the opposite effect on Bama.

Will Bama soon focus elsewhere for DL?

I think that by saying what he said in an interview that he is publicly drawing a line in the sand with Bama. They now have to match or let him go.

They will most likely let him go, I think. With the way that they develop players they won't miss a step because he isn't there.

This will be a huge win for us, we need him alot more than Bama does

Did you read the article?

It sounds as if he’s being told to wait till NSD by a few schools so they can see what kind of room they have for Rodney once their pieces fall into place.

I don't have a strong opinion on this one way or the other. We miss on recruits in every class, so we're basically taking Rodney as a known miss. And who knows, maybe he'll surprise us and actually do something. From the limited videos I've seen of Ish, he could be really special. Also, the optics of getting him could be big.

On the other hand, those spots could be used on Christian Williams/George Pickens and one of the other remaining defensive line prospects, or it could be used to get a transfer or have 26 spots next year. I know I said above that we miss on recruits every year, but recently these last spots have been very useful. Foster Moreau and Lloyd Cushenberry were both late additions because we ended up with room. And the last two years we've used extra spots to grab Burrow, Terrance Alexander and Breiden Feheko, who were all obviously great additions to the team.

I think I'd rather get Ish and Rodney, but I'm not sure if that's just my pride kicking in.

Either way, I think we'll be ok.

So, he wants to go to Alabama, so they must find a way to get Rodney a scholarship or make it so that he doesn't have to pay his way.

Kind of the way I read it too.

If he wants to go to college with his brother, and LSU is the only school willing to make that happen, then he should have already committed or signed.

If he ends up at Bama, I hope they get caught paying him off somehow and get the hammer from the NCAA.

Bama's been caught cheating multiple times in the past...nothing happens, and this is why we have the monopoly that we currently have.

Whats more absurd securing the number 1 Defensive tackle (a huge position of need) 30 minutes from LSU because we offer his brother who is also a defensive lineman or losing him
I don't remember anyone bitching about Lanard but looking back if offering Lanard got Leonard then you know it was worth it.

This kind of stuff happens all the time. Does anyone remember 3 star RB, #58 in the state overall rankings, Lanard Fournette. Ole Miss hiring Patterson’s brother, and giving Robert Nkemdichi’s brother a scholarship. Kansas State giving Bryce Brown’s brother a scholarship. Saban promising to hire Frank Wilson (but didn’t) to get the four O. P. Walker recruits. Gus Malzahn hired to get M. Mustain, D. Cutcliff hired to land Eli Manning. Saban signed no star Rick Clausen and Tenn signed CJ Leak to help land their little brothers.

Nothing new.

It usually isn’t this blatant, but there is a lot more coverage now a days.

I’m not sure if the LOI is binding unless LSU certifies it some how. Maybe someone can explain this. My question is when an athlete signs his LOI does that automatically bind LSU from that point on without anything else happening?

He has Fournette and Harvey Williams type leverage and is using it.

Only question is whether Bama is going to play ball.

I get the motivation issue, but we are probably signing 15 guys this year who would rather be at Alabama.

Yea, I don’t like either. If he pans out though, I’m fine with it

As far as the #1 DT in the country, you can expect him to lose that ranking soon.

Can you name all of these players that want a spot at Bama, but signed with LSU? This is just dead wrong. You think if Kardell, Stingley, Emery, Brooks, etc. wanted to be at Bama they couldn’t be?? Come on man, the staff has done a great job.

The only 2 people this has come in question with is Devonta Lee, and Sopsher.

Is there absolutely no way for his brother to improve and turn into a serviceable role player? I mean how many walk on's have panned out when no one gave them a chance or scholly? You never know....

The fact that no other schools are offering him leads me to believe he’s just not going to contribute

I agree with you but in this case, it looks good for Ed to show the wall is built and sign the top guys from the State, trust me, we’ll never hear the end of it if He doesn’t get Sopshers

I would rather we cut ties than offer the brother. These demands are absurd.
Where did he demand anything? Kid said he’s going to school with his brother there’s nothing wrong with that, at all.

I think was also part of the deal with Fournette, it just was not as public. I disagree. LSU only has 6 scholarships left, whose spot (6th one) is Rodney taking. Let say LSU signs Devonta Lee from Amite (I think they will), that is 20, Parker from Ruston signs, that is 21. Hampton said on ESPN he is signing with LSU in February, that is 22.

So who are the 3 spots. There is a DB in Alabama named Williams that LSU might sign, lets assume it is him, that is 23. At that point, I will take the 2 Sophsher's and be done. Just my view.
