re: Per Rivals Jacob Phillips and his family have scheduled an unofficial visit to LSU

LSU coaches meeting with Phillips today

Remember the Jacob Phillips' video (LINK right after the US Army All American Bowl Game, where he is telling the NOLA interviewer that LSU is the only team that he still talks to after committing to Oklahoma, and then Willie Gay walks up on the side of him, Phillips’ sees him and then they both break into big smiles, then Gay shimmies to Phillips’ back left shoulder and gives the L sign. Hindsight is 20/20 now, but obviously, both those two dudes must have been talking together about LSU previously and you can tell by the way that Gay is acting, as he kept walking up behind Phillips during the interview, and then later was staring right over both of Phillips’ shoulders at the interviewer.

Apparently, the Phillips’ visit to LSU had already been set up at that time and he had told Gay about it, probably when Gay mentioned to him that he had an official visit to LSU scheduled for Jan. 20. Hence, they already knew they would be seeing each other again at LSU on the 20th. I’m hoping they are both good friends and that they both give LSU verbal commitments on that day. I’m crossing my fingers.

In any event, Phillips wouldn’t be coming to LSU on an unofficial visit on his own dime unless he was very interested in LSU. I’m thinking we at least get Phillips, but judging from Gay’s recent comments as well, it also sounds like we have a very good shot at that dude as well. Not to mention, that LSU is his last official visit.
