Debo Jones. I know Chavis values speed, and I'm not sure there's another linebacker in the country who is as fast as Debo Jones.

+1

I just don't see him coming here with the number of LBs we already have and adding Lorenzo Phillips.

Would love to have him also, but I just don't see it happening

Mark Laird, WR, OCS

I think LSU pulls Devall, but Laird could be the possession receiver that is missing in this class. I have not gotten to see him play much this year, but he was dominant last year, and, playing CB completely shut down Sylve from South Plaquamines in the semi-final game. He has not gotten much press due to OCS playing in 1-A, but this kid can play football.

Looks like with his speed, he'd almost have to be a TE. I just don't see him as a big loss for LSU

Why do you think we get Devall?

Any video on Laird and did attend any camps?

I like this guy. He could grow into a TE. Having said that, I don't want to offer him. I'd rather him walk on.

I also think it will be Devall. Will say it's pretty strange that with all the talk coming from his camp at the end of summer that for the past couple of months it's basically been silent.
The problem I've heard with Laird is that he's maxed out and doesn't have much potential to get better. He's a good hs player but if he's as good now as he's ever going to be then he's not LSU caliber. Not sure if this is on par with what most think or not, just what I've had explained to me.

I don't consider kids like Jones to be misses since we never offered but he would top my list of guys we may in hindsight regret not trying to bring in.We'll be fine either way and can't really argue him over the lbs we have commited. If we miss on Phillips,Devall and Richie Brown then we should have a discussion.I know some would say Granier is an argument but we commited to him so long ago that we are doing the right thing standing by him.I also happen to think he's a pretty good MLB.Just needs to stay healthy.

Terrell Lathan(sp?) from West Monroe. He was sure to be a top 5 player based on what most saw of him as a 10th grader but fizzled. He looked like the best defensive player I've seen so far this year and from what I heard a light finally came on this summer and he is finally reaching some of his potential. He has the size and athleticism of an SEC caliber DL

Not sure who told you that but, they are sadly mistaken. I can assure you that Laird has not come close to his potential and if LSU doesn't offer this kid they will regret it. He wants to go to LSU, has since he was a kid. I can tell you from watching this kid since he was in flag, he is the real deal. He would be just as dominant at the 5A level as he is in 1A.

He completely shut down the "best" player in 1A last year at their home field. had over 200 yards receiving in the state championship as well.

I've watched OCS football for a lot of years ad well as LA football. He IS the best player I have ever seen put on pads.

Oh and you never have to worry about him kicking a guy in the head or smoking synthetic weed either...

He claims to have real interest from Florida. Will probably want to play basketball wherever he goes.

*Edit- Talked to a few people close to Sydie and they claim he's down to LSU and Bama.

Don't get to see enough Louisiana kids to make an accurate case for anyone. Laird is impressive and I bet he tears it up wherever he ends up.

This might be the biggest miss for the state of Texas. Adrian Colbert 2012 DB (Mineral Wells, TX)Youtube

Rivals profile

Doesn't look like he faces a lot of good passing teams but the kid is a great tackler, has size (6'1" 195 lbs.) and runs a 48.23 400 (State Champ).

He moved from one small town to another, didn't get invited to any big time camps(went to Tulsa, Texas Tech, Texas St., and Houston) and is currently committed to Baylor.

I know Baylor is in the Big XII and has been ranked this year but this kid hasn't been offered by anyone but them & TCU.

He might be the kind of athlete Coach Cooper would recognize if he saw him at a camp. He is definitely a "football player."

My pick as the biggest miss by all of the Texas programs that matter ended up not being a miss.

He committed to Texas today & he ended up getting offers from A&M and TX Tech too. Adrian Colbert

With Debo on board, what player fits the "biggest miss" bill now?

James McFarland will be a starter in the SEC with his talent and work ethic. Laird = Craig Steltz. I believe he has 20 career interceptions as well as ludicrous offensive numbers. I've heard he'll walk on at LSU due to his girlfriend already attending LSU.

Word is Laird is walking on here because his g/f already goes to school here and he just wants to come to LSU. If that's the case that's pretty awesome. He's a GREAT walk-on for us to have. Saw him play against White Castle in the state championship last year and West St John this year, and he stood out more than the LSU commits both years.
