On3 survey about NIL

LINK
At last week's On3 Elite Series, On3 offered a survey to 41 blue-chip recruits.
Results showed over 50% of top 2025 prospects polled are content with taking less NIL dollars than their top offer
Of the 36 athletes surveyed, 33 listed the amount of money they wanted. The majority of desired financial packages ranged from $200,000 to $600,000 per year, with the median at $400,000. The lowest recorded NIL offer wanted was $33,000. More than 20 of the athletes asked to fill out the survey were rated as five-star recruits
22 recruits provided details for the amount of money they desired and their largest NIL package to date. In a surprising outcome, 12 said they were content with taking less money than their largest NIL offer, which is 54% percent of the pool who answered both questions
One of the biggest misconceptions surrounding NIL in the high school ranks has been top prospects picking colleges solely off the highest dollar price
Responses from the survey show culture fit and NFL development remain deciding factors for many of the top recruits in the nation, outweighing a larger payday.

Thanks for deciphering...

-NFL vet practice squad 18wk $370,800
-NFL practice squad (<2 yo ex) $216,000
-400k for a unproven freshman… let that settle in.

Rookie minimum = $795k.
Making an NFL roster makes taking slightly less worth it. Granted most guys won't ever do that, so just saying.

Easy to mark on a survey that it's not all about the money
I think those who really follow recruiting know that it is ALL about the money right now

I don't know for sure, but I'd wager a pot of money that Bryce Underwood has gotten offers from other schools that were more than he's getting in Baton Rouge. Probably Harlem Berry too.

I don't doubt they did.
I still think that for most other recruits, money is the most important thing.

What's scary is 50% is purely about money. Then the othe 50%, considering this is almost all 5 stars, says don't take the highest offer... which just means they accepted 350k instead of the 400k 1 school offered. None of it is good

Such a small percentage of football players though. Scholarship and
$25-50k/yr NIL is what the grand majority want. NFL is the goal.
We sat in an SEC coach’s office yesterday evening and I was thinking redshirt…he was thinking NIL only for a year. We’ll see.

Keep in mind, it’s in On3’s interest to promote these big offers to help the kids get more money. Kids give them the scoop, interviews, etc in exchange.
It’s a big game just like Mel Kiper pimping certain players for the draft.

Without revealing too much about who you are / your situation, did that coach give any explanation as to what they were thinking or why? Feels like a pretty big disconnect there.

How is the ROI determined on this NIL deals? I don't see how it's not just legalization of former bagmen. At least, though always thought they were losers, they were doing it to secure players for 4yrs to the school the love. Now that's not even guaranteed.
There just can't be enough local biz TV commercials to sustain this. Or car dealership "porter" jobs.
Do the collectives send out w-2s or 1099s to these athletes?

They have a good kicker who’ll be a senior when my son is a freshman (HS senior this upcoming year). My son is the best kicker in high school and if they want him it’s not as a walk-on. He’s had full offers from two other SEC schools for a year and is committed to one.
He had just kicked 8 or so straight from 50+ in front of the whole staff, two 60 yard full operation with their snapper and holder and a 62 left hash full operation…I understand where they are coming from too though…guy gets paid $7+ million to win football games. I can’t even fricking imagine.

Survey have never been and never will be an accurate source of information as there's too much to influence the data. At best they give you a very basic idea on something and that's about it. Let's see their responses when a bigger bag of money is dropped on their laps.

Idk man. The two transfers requested more money than this… I think it’s pretty spot on.

Judge by actions, not words. People can say all kinds of things

Sounds like capitalism. If ppl are willing to pay that for their services, then more power to them

I don't doubt the money #s. I doubt the results of the survey. Need to know what and how the questions were worded before judging how the answers turned out.
The thing for me is just how blatant pay for commitments is being bandied about. These deals are arranged pre signing. Of course we all know that to be the case but I'd at least expect the leader in such reporting to attempt candor. Shows the farce it all is "officially". This is not what the courts meant when they sided with Ed O Bannon.

I don’t think those survey results sound all that surprising. If 54% said they would take less than their highest offer, it stands to reason that 46% said they wouldn’t take less than their highest offer.
On top of that, this is a survey of blue chip HS recruits. I think the transfer portal is a whole different ballgame.

Strictly by wins I assume. Todd Graves and Gordon McKernan aren't donating to better their businesses, they are doing it strictly because they love LSU athletics. I don't think Nuss posting a picture on Instagram is help Gordon get business.
