Are there character issues there???

This will get downvoted because people want to convince themselves that it's actually a good thing that Ricks is transferring, but the reason OSU backed off him is because the were concerned that their current DB commits would bail if they took him. It wasn't a character issue.

You know, he’s also a what, a 20-21 year old.

Sometimes things like this can be a learning experience. Having a new HC and DB coach, maybe it’s worth starting with a clean slate.

I don’t exactly get that this guy is Gilbert level. Just seems immature.

The thing with low character guys that are all about themselves is they may have all the talent in the world, but they're eventually going to flame out. So, when the character stuff starts to emerge, its best to let them either turn it around or let them go. I'd rather have a less talented guy who has bought in than a highly talented guy who is all about himself.

That said, championship programs are those who get highly talented to buy in and be about the team. That's what Alabama has done under Saban. Its what LSU did in 2019. But, with someone like Ricks, he can either get with the program or pursue his own ends. The two aren't compatible.
