Non-LSU football recruiting — A top 10 team that looks like they don’t belong.

There’s not many recruiting guys on the MSB, so hopefully they’ll keep it here

Maybe the SEC recruiting board would have fit better?

Nonetheless, have you guys noticed what Schiano has done so far this deep into the cycle? Compare that with what Tennessee has going on right now as well. I like to watch for usual outliers pop up in the recruiting rankings and of all teams, Rutgers has a pretty damn solid class so far. Just goes to show how easy it is for almost any program to blossom under the right circumstances and structure.

Its early. They have a 88.37 average. At that pace they'll finish somewhere between 17-20... which is still good for Rutgers.

New Jersey regularly has more in state talent than Tennessee.

It usually just never ends up at Rutgers. If they locked down their state, the combined increase in their talent and decrease in talent at their in-conference foes that raid their state will have them very competitive in conference very quickly. New Jersey is an underrated talent producing state.

I want so badly for Schiano to be a huge success and Tennessee to crumble and fire yet another coach.

What those fans did to that guy was outrageous. Mob attacked his character and labeled him a pedophile because they thought he wasn't a good coach.

Tennessee fans were complete idiots for not taking Schiano as their head coach. He is a good coach.

A very good coach. He built Rutgers out of absolutely nothing.

After the first 3 seasons spent rebuilding, he won 63% of his games in the final 7 seasons including an 11-2 season.

They had been to 1 bowl game in their entire program's history (in 1978). Schiano brought them to 6 in those final 7 years and went 5-1 in those games.

Side note:

Kyle Flood is also a really good coach. Forgot he was basically fired for his players being criminals, but he had them winning and he recruited even better than Schiano did. I bet he gets another shot and succeeds.

Coached under Saban last couple of seasons as OL coach and Sark loves him and named him OC and OL coach at Texas.

I doubt it was serious Tennessee Fans who railed against Schiano and thwarted his hiring.
It was the "Woke" crowd.
Tennessee "fans" want to win.

Was more his partner in crime as the AD who shut down a ton of programs while spending a hundred million+ to set up the football team with nice facilities and cupcake opponents on a Big East schedule. Plus Ray Rice was a gift that was well above Rutgers' pay grade.

Never liked Schiano. He reminded me of Les Miles at times, although to be fair offense wasn't supposed to be his specialty.

believe what you will, but it was Tennessee as a whole. They didn't think he could handle the modern way of college football.

Also the people hyping him up in this thread need to calm down. Hasn't Head coached college ball prior to last year since 2011. It's a completely different game now. Maryland and Indiana are also trying to build for a modern game. Then you have the usual suspects in that division.

A top 20 recruiting finish at Rutgers would be pretty impressive.

Eh I think Tennessee fans have huge expectations and just didn't think he was good enough. Would've used any excuse to get him out.

not remotely the same. Casey knew about Heimlich and let him pitch. Clay Travis and the twitter mob attacked Schiano over heresay by Mike McQuerry that Schiano told MM he saw Sandusky assaulting a child which Schiano denies.

Casey is also 62 years old and has been retired for 3 years GS was early 50s and an active coach.
