We are a long way from signing day and things change but my guess at the moment is that we sign Haynes and Johnson. I do not expect LSU to sign three QBs and those are the two that look most likely now.

Just remember it’s fluid and subject to change at any time.

Why the big dependency between 247 and the other sites on Johnson?

My non-expert opinion from watching all 3 QBs' highlights:

Arm strength: Finley, Johnson=King
Touch on deep throws: King, Finley, Johnson
Mobility: King, Johnson, Finley
Ball placement/accuracy: King, Finley, Johnson
Release: Finley, Johnson, King
Intangibles/coaching: King (competition/coach's son), Johnson (pedigree), Finley

247 was very high fever on production for QBs with this release. Power even listed stats for all the top 247 QBs. He said that at some point Johnson has to show up on Friday nights to back up his cam performances. I agree though I do like Johnson. No matter who you're throwing to, 39% completion percentage is unacceptable. Kids that have no future at football do better than that.

Rivals/ESPN are going on what they've seen previously and his pedigree which I also agree with.

I think he's probably somewhere in the lower 4* range myself.

Also, just from reading what analysts had to say regarding QBs, unless you're a knock'em dead elite guy as a pocket passer they will deflate your ranking. They've kind regards of pigeonholed themselves with valuing dual threat guys more. Of course that's never stopped them before from contradicting themselves.

As for the question regarding the inaccuracy of Rivals/ESPN and their value to the composite, don't forget 247 are the ones that knocked a kid that was a top 80+ kid for 2 years completely out of the 247 based on a poor all star performance. The group that runs 247 also was a part of the Rivals conspiracy that essentially confirmed bias in rankings before they left. Not sure why they get a pass from everyone.

Every year we have an extra scholarship or two because we don't get a high profile guy that we want. Take all three and let them compete for the job here. It is not like our quarterback room is over flowing. If one doesn't like to compete, let him leave. Time will tell if any of the three will actually turn out to be a starter. With the new transfer rule, it makes it easier to go somewhere else if you are not the right fit at LSU.

No specific dependency I typically just look at composite. A lot of people like 247 rankings the most. I just can’t get over T.J. and Johnson’s stats being so bad. I get they are both on awful teams, but these are guys with high level power 5 offers and they should be blowing past some of the competition. I mean look at King’s stats and compare them to Johnson and Finley. It’s night and day. We certatintly should take King, and drop one of the others. My opinion is we should keep Finley on board, but who knows which one is really better between Finley and Johnson.

I think this could play out before next season. Johnson and Finley should get their chances to impress at camps over the next few months. If they do, considering that UGA and Bama still need to sign a QB in this class, they could become hot properties.

I sign whichever of the 2 QB's is the most accurate.

Accuracy is also one of Steve E's most important traits in a QB.

Neither Finley or Johsnon have shown accuracy in regards to completion % thus far.

How exactly would we “loose” other people?

In terms of the QB position I value mental processing speed as 1A and accuracy as 1B.

For example you can see Burrow has above average metal processing speed, average accuracy, average arm strength and throwing motion and above average physicality. A QB like Brees has off the charts metal processing speed, elite accuracy, below average arm strength and average physicality. My point is, mental processing speed and accuracy can take you a long way at the QB position.

You got down voted for this but if you have 2 players that are equal in performance you take the in state kid to keep better relationships with the school. Period.
Chances are that pays off later compared to an OOS kid.

If I’m seeing this wrong someone please logically explain why.

I've seen Finley throw the ball. He has the arm to make all of the throws. I don't know why his percentage would be down. I haven't seen Maxx throw.

Finley is not on a bad team. He is on an awful team. He has no blocking and his receivers are poor. What would Joe Burrow's stats look like with a good offensive line? As bad as LSU's offensive line looked this year, multiply that by 5 or 10 for Ponchatoula.

Maybe LSU should take 3 QB's, given their record for poor evaluation of recruits in that area.
