Earvin Johnson was the last Guard I remember that we played against that was that big.
Posted on 5/1/18 at 4:21 pm to LSUFanMizeWay
Ben Simmons was pretty big for a guard as well
just joking.
Also see you reppin the Maroon Tide, speaking of big wings Jonathan Bender at 6'11 was maybe the tallest wing ever, just bad knees that did him in. Quick glance he was a 35% 3pt shooter in the league.
Wish they could get that athletic department back to what it was, so much talent in every sport, new district should help a lot especially in football.

I'm always glad that he never went to Mississippi State

Why do you say that if you do not mind me asking? I had three amazing coaches that all knew him extremely well that told us the opposite, however two coached at Ms state so....The Picayune lifer of the three however said he badly just needed college did not matter where.
JB is an amazing person to meet as well, I think somebody said he did something with medical supplies and makes really good money now. KD before KD.

I saw him play at Picayune, he'd have killed us, inside and outside.

True
Good to know there are more south ms LSU fans on the RB. You probably know a lot of the gentleman that coached me, SSC...
Any resolution to the KT stuff? Known him a while just from Bay/SSC/Ladner, from an outsiders perspective Picayune just cannot get out of its own way. Football they were a machine in my HS years, but basketball had taken a nosedive by then, baseball will always be solid but they have had legit major league talent come through.

Yes, I will ask a good friend of mine what's going on over there, he's a Diehard Maroon Tide Fan.

Okay, okay; can we get back to LSU b-ball recruiting talk?
Supposedly White is making his decision this week. Anyone have any info on what way he is leaning?

Leaning LSU but its been quiet, he is a grad transfer not looking to do it for attention like a HS kid. He wants a chance to compete at the highest level. He is originally from Ames and I do not know if Iowa State has officially offered (Went on a visit) as they only have one spot left and are looking at 3-4 players.
I like our chances against every suitor except Iowa State.

We definitely need another BIG. Hope we land this guy.

White has visited UMASS, Nevada, Clemson, and LSU. Nevada just filled their last scholarship with an Old Dominion transfer. I think UMASS is also full but may be able to make room

Would be great to get White.
PG: Waters/Smart
SG: Mays/Edwards/Taylor
SF: Taylor/Rachal/Emmitt
PF: Reid/Days/Sims/Emmitt
C: Bigby-Williams/White/
A lot of versatility in the frontcourt if you get White

I think getting white will be more important for the ‘19-20 season then next season. Reid and KBW will both play center a lot then Williams, Days and Rachal will get a lot of the minutes at the 4 when they go small

You're correct, but what he brings for this year is that you finish your roster because now you have that 3-man rotation with bigs 6-9 and up, and you can't be beaten with size. Very few teams have that element PLUS the scary backcourt PLUS the athletic wings who can rebound, shoot 3's and finish on the break. We'll have all of it.
And then he can use that last scholarship to line up a guy for when Reid and Edwards and Bigby-Williams and maybe Waters and Williams move on, so you'll have a big contributor waiting in the wings.

Not really sure what makes you think Emmitt will be behind Days and Sims

Outside of the starters, I was just putting names on there

Another transfer and sit guy with local ties just hit the market. Jalen Johnson from UHigh is transferring from St Louis U. He was in Travis Ford's first recruiting class there and started a ton of games. 6'7" Forward. I don't know of any interest on our part, I was just surprised when I saw the story on the St Louis newspaper website.

Jalen Johnson was Wayde Sims teammate at UHigh. Youtube
St. Louis Bio
Averaged 9ppg 4rpg, shot 42% including 39% from 3. Not bad, and I wouldn't turn him down if he wanted to come home. I'm hoping CWW gets a bigger body that can bang down low, defend and rebound. With Naz and KBW leaving after next season, we'll need a big that can sit a year to work on his body and offensive game.

He would love to play at LSU but not going happen, he would be the worse one on the team now lol

Johnson is a wing shooter, not really a banger in the lane.
.394 from the arc is a nice number. But when you're recruiting the Watfords and the Hyatts for 2019 you're looking at guys who can do a lot more than just hoist bombs from the wing; they can create shots, go to the hole, defend, play inside and out and even handle the ball.
I don't know if I see value there. A guy like a James Banks from UT or a Terrell Brown from Pittsburgh gives you more from a strategic standpoint.
