I understand LSU has 2 running backs already, but Duke is getting a damn good one. He will be a top 15 LA recruit by end of season, had two 50+ yard touchdowns called back tonight and still had 3 tonight.

I saw him play against Airline last year in a playoff game, and immediately thought to myself “who is that kid”

He was by far the best player on the entire field. It was odd too, I didn’t notice game breaking speed, or a huge frame, but nobody could tackle him. He was like a pinball bouncing off defenders.

I remember looking up his number and name after the game, and I recall him being committed to Colorado? Or maybe it was his best offer, and I thought to myself the kid is much better than what his offer sheet dictated at the time.

After watching him tonight, Durham is a pretty accurate comp. Probably doesn’t have the top end speed of Durham, but he just bounces off everybody. Good hands out of the backfield, caught a 70 yard wheel route for a TD that also got called back. Hammonds defense played him well too

One play tonight, 3 guys had him running into the sideline, cuts direction and goes across field and scores. Probably 45 yards in stats, 85+ yard run in terms of distance. You’re correct on being committed to Colorado, changed to Duke. Kids got a 4.0 and from what my fiancée’s sister has mentioned, he wants to be a doctor. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him make it to the NFL one day, I’ve watched him multiple times the past two years and I’ve come away more impressed after every game

Stop.

To be a Durham comp you have to have elite speed. This kid doesn’t come close to Durham.

Kid is probably more like Josh Williams

If he's got offers to Colorado and Duke, he's a lot more talented than Josh Williams.

Lots of people on the train for Sheppard and he's an impressive prospect but it doesn't mean he's LSU offer worthy, particularly with 2 in the boat. Where are the other "major" offers? Duke is fine and well but not one you say "that Duke offer sure stands out". Other schools have tape also. Don't see a massive rush of programs falling over themselves for him. Why should we? Don't we trust Frank around these parts? Frank has passed and according to everyone isn't even nipping. Guess we'll see how it plays out. Kid seems happy with Duke. The doctor ambitions make that make more sense.

I think he is good enough for an LSU offer and we need more depth in the RB room. Especially if they plan on using Berry as a Swiss Army knife. Sheppard makes everything look really easy and no one can stop him. The OL at Mandeville isn’t particularly great either. He also has strong bloodlines as his dad played at Tulane and his brother is balling at Colorado and previously at Vandy. He’s worth an offer.

Looks like he's going to be an athletic and academic star for Duke. He could be on the Justin Reid route. Love to see it.

Yeah, I haven’t seen him play in person but I’ve followed recruiting for a while and generally when a kid has this much talk about him on the message boards he usually ends up being good more times than not. Just for that alone and the fact we have unlimited Scollys I say we throw one at him and see if we can get a flip.

He does have very good speed and acceleration. He was one of the best hurdlers in The State in his sophomore year. Last year the sprung football schedule interfered with The Track Season. It’s true, no one ever catches him from behind.

A couple things...

Yes, he absolutely is SEC caliber and could play at LSU. He might not be generational like Fournette or Berry but kid is really good.

Should he come to LSU? As much as I'd like, Duke is a great career decision. He gets immediate playing time and a great pathway to a medical career.

Brother, I was comparing Shepherd and Durham purely off of run style. Relax

Also this post was not saying LSU should offer immediately by any means. Just highlighting an underrated LA high school kid, he’s gotten a lot of talk on this board and I came away impressed again after last night.

Yes, every single recruiting service and P4 coaching staff has it wrong about this kid at the next level.

I did the same. I came away impressed once again. It seems those who have posted on this thread fall into two camps. Those who have seen him in person and those who have not seen him play. I’m amazed how many who have not seen him play have such a negative view. They play next week in Ponchy. It might be worth a trip see what some of us are talking about.

He is a 4.43 guy.. very fast and great vision.

Highly intelligent too. I think he’s an etienne type that plays in nfl no matter where he goes to school

He already has multiple P4 offers so I’m not sure what you think you’re saying here.

He’s a consensus 3 star player on every recruiting site.

He has offers from Duke, Tulane, GT etc. Good for him. Every year this board becomes infatuated with a player that is “underrated”.
