I have seen several responses in other threads about hoping that Miles is not making a mistake.

I know he has others on the radar that are great atheletes but this is my opinion. I Sentimore grew up in La. and has been an LSU fan his entire life I think he will play much more with his heart when he puts on the purple and gold. You can not measure heart with a stopwatch or in the weight room. If I was a football coach and I had a shot to get two guys, one from my state that has been a fan his entire life and one from another state, I would have to go with the home kid if the talent is comparable.

Just my opinion.

i think if sentimore was from oklahoma we wouldnt be this up in arms, it means a lot to us that he wants to be here and didnt choose us per say. it different with kids like that, i really hope he ends up here and he will end up being a damn good player regardless, hope it is at LSU.

Miles has been burned taking chances on grade issue kids..
Benton and Brown for starters

Benton we finally get..

Miles is sending the message to LA kids... You must have your grades in order, early, or you may not get an offer.... no matter how good or how bad you want to be here.

That makes 2 DL from LA that Bama has now...

BTW: How is Luther Davis coping the the loss of that loved one from last year?

I am with many others hoping that Miles didn't make a mistake. However, I really believe that if this kid was a can't miss, had to have prospect, Miles would have picked him up. To me this means a few things: 1) Bama, Saban force Sentimore's hand into making a decision so they(Bama) didn't get burned by waiting on him and having him pick LSU in the end (I know it could still happen). 2)We are in a much better position than we(fans) think with one of the other two or three prospects that we have left on our board ahead of sentimore. 3)Sentimore's grades/test scores are such that he won't qualify (I think Miles met with him about grades this past week) and he will be recruited all over again in two years in which case it doesn't matter too much who he signs with now cause both programs could change so much in two years.

If the coaches know he'll make the grades he gets an offer period. As of right now they don't know and i'm shocked Sentimore pulled the trigger. If he wanted to come to LSU bad enough he'd bust his arse and earn the grades instead of "settling" on Bama. Who had like how many people not qualify last year?

He probably felt pressured to get a committ. If LSU does offer between now and NSD, obviously because of grades, I am sure he has no problem dropping alabama altogether.

When you are in the running for two of the top 5 DTs in the nation (and you already have a verbal from a third in the top 5), you can afford to keep a kid like Sentimore waiting.

There's more going on here than simple Rantards can wrap their adolescent minds around.

What I don't understand is how anyone on here can honestly think they know anything about what's going on. Anything any of us "know" is simply conjecture and opinion. If any one of us mailed our resumes in for a recruiting coordinator position or head coaching vacancy at a D-1 school across the nation it would get tossed.

Nobody knows what's going on or what happened with Sentimore and the same goes for Michael. That's all. We dont know, nor do we really need to. Whew.........I feel a little better now. Sorry 'bout that.

I think that's a very good assessment. We all know with Les that grades alone do not disqualify a kid, ala DeAngelo Benton. If the issue was just grades, then I think Les would pull out all stops to get the kid no matter how long it took. Jmo but something tells me there's more here than just grades. What exactly, I have no idea.

If I had to guess, they project him more at DE than DT and they feel good about their chances with a few ends higher on the board..maybe Stinson or Montgomery.

I really don't know though..thats just me spitballing around in my head.

There's no upside in being critical of recruits on public forums like this...only a |Negatiger would do this. I guarentee you, many said recruits visit this board. Don't say anything stupid...it only hurts LSU recruiting!

Scoop, agree 100%. This can come back to bite the home school in so many ways. This could create animosity toward LSU from his friends and family. It could also damage relationships with the school's coaching staff. And now we have one of our own at a conference school recruiting against us. I'd rather see this kid in purple and gold.

Phil, nobody in the thread you are replying to said anything worthy of such a stupid response. Scoop just said all things being (nearly) equal, he would give preference to an in-state recruit over an out-of-state recruit. I agreed with him.

Do you have anything useful to add to the discussion?

Phil, I agree with you about this kid. I've seen him play and he is going to an all-conference type of player. How in the world can he commit to Alabama if he can't make the grades to get into school?

who knows

If we get #1 and/or #3 maybe we will be ok.
Being on all of these national guys lists is kind of nerve racking. I just hope Shep talks them all in!

I don't want to be the one to burst anyones bubble but,

In this morning's issue of "The Birmingham News" Sentimore said this,

quote:

"They have everything I need in a program," Sentimore told BamaOnline.com. "I got tired of waiting on LSU. If LSU did offer me later down the road, I wouldn't take it. This is a solid commitment to Alabama."

Sentimore committs to Tide

What did you expect him to say?

It COULD be tough, but I think it'd be tough for Bama to hold on to him.
