Simmer down lol. This was expected and honestly most were shocked he committed to us to begin with. There are other targets on the board, just have to hope we've aggressively recruited them all along and not made them feel like backup plans

My issue isn't about the kid signing with Georgia. It's about him being treated like a celebrity with the story about Arranda waiting at the airport. No one believed that shite, just STFU and sign with Georgia. We all you're going to.

U cant trust these recruits. I remember bower saying he didn't decide on lsu till the time he arrived at his school and walked to the podium. He was considered an auburn lean.

Man you keep saying this over and over on every thread. How many offers do you want them to give out before it starts to hurt us that we offer too many kids? They have 15 offers out currently to inside linebackers and that doesn't include Moses and Allen. It think you are spending way too much time reading here and think we are only recruiting 3-4 guys.

Jesus. Kids these days. WTF commit to us in the first place? I just don't understand this label of flakiness.

Good morning to you too

I'd say more than 15 obviously. It doesn't seem to hurt OSU or Bama to offer more aggressively. I wonder how they manage that?

Monty Rice flips to UGA by rjokerlsu
I believe Chaisson is the best hope.

It is unfortunate to lose Rice, but not totally unexpected.

Don't forget Andre Anthony should be good to go next season, and he should be able to effectively play ILB.

Andre Anthony is an OLB edge rusher similar to Key. He has not nor will he play ILB. Chaisson is also a Key type edge rushed who doesn't play the ILB. Rahsaan Thornton can play ILB as well as Divinity to go with Alexander and White.

I understand what you're getting at but you can't do that..

You can't go after a guy like, say, Moses and also pursue other top notch guys.. these kids these days want to be pampered and sold on the fact that THEY are the man for the job, not another four or five star guy..

hypothetical situation here - say you go ahead and tell DM he is the only guy you're going after hard then at a camp a guy like rice tells DM, 'yea man LSU is pushing real hard for me'.... you think Dylan would even consider LSU after being 'cheated' on? It's sad man but a lot of these guys are divas and demand all the attention - look at what just happened with Monty Rice

So you have to prioritize and go after the big fish first, it's just the nature of the beast - sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't

Except Moses went to a place that signed 37 four and five star linebackers

Beckwith was listed as a DE in HS but had that frame to be ILB, i wonder if they view justin Harris the same except he's soo tall, i know sci & andre are def olb's but maybe divinity or rashaan join white inside...

In hindsight last year was a nice LB haul lol..

This kid obviously made an emotional commitment to LSU after meeting with Aranda and then came back down afterwards

It happens

+1

I'm really not all that worried about signing another ILB, next recruiting cycle it's going to be a must to get a few but I'm not that worried about it this year

Just more of a reason for Mr. Devin White to never leave the field

I also thought I read that Sci Martin was moving inside as well.

I think we'll be fine with Thornton and Divinity coming up with all of the others. Plus Queen and hopefully Chiasson.

It just goes to show how important locking up Louisiana first is, then go after big-timers from elsewhere. Home calls most of the recruits when it gets to the end of the cycle.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply, seriously.

I guess I'd debate that by asking how bama, for example, signs two or three 5 star or high 4 star guys at each position? Do they get every single recruit that they target? Or even one of the top two guys at every position that they target? Or are they targeting more 5 star type talent to begin with??

To your point, it requires skilled management in terms of pampering the egos of the kids. I think id sell the hell out of the fact that we are an elite program and the fact that we are recruiting you is a testament to your ability and you're an elite talent. Help the kid see that we only recruit the best talent and we recognize that elite talent will have options so yes we target aggressively

Again, quit getting all your info off this board. Bama currently has 4 LB commits. They have 12 offers out to ILB, and 15 to OLB.

LSU has 15 offers out to ILB, and 21 to OLB. We currently have no LB commits. So, in actuality, we have been more aggressive on the offer front. We just haven't closed the deal with the ones we've offered.

ETA: listed as LBs...there are guys such as queen who will play LB.

I don't get all my info from this board, I draw conclusions based on the information available and outcomes that I see. There are more variables to offers than just the number. How many of those did we extend only recently out of desperation? Maybe look at when offers went out? Do we start offering late in the game compared to others?

Again, if you're satisfied with the results then that's ok for you. I think the results suggest we can do better

He was committed for what, a week or two? This is the kind of thing that makes recruiting really hard to get into.

How can anyone not be excited about the defense they saw on Sat? Is Aranda just a great DC and not a good recruiter?
Teenagers aren't concerned about the difference in how brilliant a coordinator looks. No teens think like that even if they say they do. It's all about the relationships they build with recruiters and where they think they will have the most fun.
