Again. No shite..
With the portal and if Van Buren is the #2 next year, chances are Hurley may never be the starter at LSU.
Nothing is set in stone and things can happen.. But all I said is that it seems like Hurley isn’t ready and the coaches may not think he will be a year from now.

Your comment didn’t give any detail at all other than a tacit agreement with another poster that this could end up with Hurley out the door. Hurley is still very young. It’s not surprising he might not be ready in 2025, but that has no implications that he never will be or that the coaches might give up on him. They are bringing in another young QB to allow both to develop and see who ends up working out better in the end. Even if Van Buren is more ready in 2025, that doesn’t mean he would be in 2026. Either way, this has no impact on Hurley’s trajectory. They were bringing another QB in this year regardless.

We lost two QBs. Underwood and Collins.
We needed to bring in a QB.
We needed to bring in a QB.

Exactly so why did you read so much into what I said? Lol.. I said time will tell, which it will!
I also said it seems to be indicative on how the staff feels about Hurley. Of course you have to bring in a qb since Collins left and we lost BU. But they didn’t go after Van Buren just to “add depth”,

And that’s the part I disagree with. I don’t think it tells us anything at about how they feel about Hurley. They were bringing a young QB in in this cycle regardless of how they feel about Hurley. This isn’t a negative for Hurley. It’s not about him at all other than the fact that he should be an incoming freshman age wise with no experience. They are still going to bring in a QB in the next class and the one after too.

Nobody is arguing that.. I was speaking more from Van Buren’s perspective. He didn’t come to LSU with someone telling him he may be the #3 guy after being the starter somewhere else as a freshman lol

I think it does tell us a lot on Hurley.. I think him enrolling early was a huge mistake.. He is still 17 years old. If Van Buren takes that #2 spot, that is a very steep hill for Hurley to climb to leap frog Van Buren the next season. I agree they had to bring in a qb regardless, but there’s also a reason they brought in the guy they did

Yes, I agree Van Buren is coming here expecting to be #2 in 2025 and the front runner for the starting spot in 2026. Swann came expecting to be the backup too, but Collins took it from him before he decided to transfer.

A four-star prospect from Bowie, Maryland, Van Buren was ESPN's No. 57 overall recruit and the No. 4 pocket passer in the 2024 class.

Wrong — Swann came in behind Nuss. Which is probably what led to Collins hitting the portal

Obvious??? Based on what? His lack of running production at Mississippi State? I’m not buying it until I see it. So far, he hasn’t done it.

You also said Collins took the spot from Swann.. Which is incorrect
