Who is Joel for those who don’t follow as closely?
Posted on 4/1/22 at 12:50 pm to PenguinPubes
Pretty sure he's referring to Joenel Aguero, the No. 2 Safety (S) in 2023 class.
LINK /
Joenel is from Massachusetts, and he made back-to-back visits in early March. And, he's planning to make his third UV back to LSU for the spring game, as well as, an official visit for a night game this fall.
Lastly, the word is that Tyrann Mathieu had a zoom call with Joenel Aguero when he was in the football ops building earlier this week.
Point being - there's a good bit of momentum between this kid and LSU.

170 lb safety... all I am going to say about that.

Why ppl gotta always be negative….170lbs isn’t shite. He’ll be like any other high school kid that comes in that size….put on more weight.

Not sure where you pulled that 170 lb. measurement for Daugherty, but he’s listed at 6‘1“ 180 lbs. by 247sports.
Furthermore, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to use measurables as a barometer for evaluating prospects (particularly, when they are 16-17 year old juniors in high school).
From what I’ve read on Daugherty, he is a position-versatile DB that plays boundary corner, nickel CB, and S in HS. Hell, he even lines up at LB occasionally. Kid has a broad set of skills, as his HUDL reflects a talented DB that is good in run support, possesses adequate coverage skills, and the combination of quickness/speed that make it possible for him to effectively rush the QB at times.
And, if all that isn’t enough - Daugherty is a high-character kid that takes care of his grades. IMO, this guy is worthy of his No. 166 composite ranking, and he’s a no brainer that I hope commits to the good guys on April 13th!!

Everything's a dick measuring contest in Louisiana.

Want Michael @ LSU real, real bad.

Yup, if you watch his junior film for the majority of It he’s either on the line or in the box. I bet they are recruiting him him as a nickel.

pulled off the ON3 link. I think Rivals had him at 175. for comparison Aguero is 195, Jackson is 205, Delpit was 205 and looked like a stick out there, Ryan - 195, Toles - 203, Langlois - 203, Adams - 213... See a trend here
The one outlier here is the Honeybadger. He plays at 175-180.

This is a bad take. Why are you comparing NFL Combine measurables to that of a recruit still in his junior year of HS.
Delpit was around 180 when he came out of HS. How big do you think guys like Justin Simmons and Marcus Williams were when they were HS recruits?

Yeah I was 5’11”s and 152lbs coming out of high school and not long after that and everything since then I’ve been 5’11”s and 200-205lbs for as long as I can remember.Kids put on weight as they age an mature…..shocker ha. 170lbs for a 16-17 year old defensive back in high school is probably the norm so idk why anyone would be concerned about it

The first two names I listed are current recruits in his class. Delpit weighed in at 201 as a true freshman.
If you think I am just being stat happy or something I have a reason for it. In the prior two years we had 4-5 DB's in the 165-175 range and while they could cover they would get dragged 10 yds down the field in open field tackles or they just did a shoulder roll cut tackle. If you want to stop SEC RBs and these ever increasing WR's you have to have some beef. You can find some that can play at those weights. Mathieu is one of those and is one of my all time favorites at LSU but I have only seen one of him

So Daugherty is only 170lbs?
Tyrann “Honey Badger” Matthieu is programmed at 174 lbs.
All I am going to say about that.

I feel like 170 or 180 is fine.
Jamaar chase weighed like 207 at the combine. Stingley weighed like 190 his junior yr.
