You know how many kids jump immediately when they get the LSU offer, or even decommit from a promise they already made in order to follow their dream? Spare me the "didn't get enough love" bullshite

There is no such thing as a Token offer!
wrong. By using the term "token offer" you are saying, not insinuating but stating, that LSU doesn't really want him and are going through the motions to keep another party happy with window dressing thereby affecting other recruits or the staff at Woodlawn.

You are intentionally creating a negative perception/narrative about LSU's staff on a LSU recruiting board... not the SECr, not even tRant... on the recruiting board.

Furthermore you are implying they even waited to give this token offer. Like they couldn't even bother to lift the finger to do the token. In reality every offer up till approximately May wasn't a real offer. By NCAA rules you can only offer, officially- that is a written offer, a senior in HS. Every offer prior to that is a verbal promise just like every commitment prior to signing is not official.

You chose to cherry pick that, on this- LSU's recruiting board, to make hay out of to create the negative [false] narrative around LSU's staff.

ETA: sorry, meant to reply to OP

Maybe they got on him late, but this doesn’t look like a situation where the team is only extending a token offer

Yea it sucks that a guy like Jeremiah Hughes received an offer in February & matthews not until June. I’m not sure they understood the in-state initiative quite yet, but I’m fairly certain they do now

If we sign Daylen Austin, Bravien Rogers, and Javien Toviano I won't even think about Jordan Matthews

You got it wrong chief. Saying that LSU didn't/doesn't want him isn't taking a shot or creating a negative narrative--it's just simply a statement of fact. Why are y'all so defensive about this? It makes no sense. I see why people that have real info quit posting here. This is a recruiting board and I'm giving actual, pertinent recruiting info and you bunch morons only want to spin this into something it's not. I'm out.

I tell ya, pride is a weakness. Hopefully he will see that Coach Kelly's program will offer him a lot more than just football.

Frankly the only one spinning at this point is you.

Also calling people morons and dense doesn't really help your case. It just makes you seem childish. Just something to think about.

Your “factual” posts come across as emotionally bias. That tells me your “first hand” knowledge is that of a very close relative. I’m one that usually comes to the defense of a poster providing information. But you’re way off key, here. You used the word “late”. His offer didn’t come late. Late would be mid-season. It may be later than Matthews want, but it isn’t late. This staff is still new. They had a lot to sift through. Your timing can’t be their timing.

Again, it comes down to does this young man want to be an LSU tiger or not. It’s yes or no. He doesn’t have a “token offer”, he has a bonafide offer. He either takes it or he doesn’t.

You’re analogy is off. There’s a hot chick that keeps you in the friend zone, then three others that treat you like a king. When friend zone chick comes around after a year what do you do? Bail on the other three hot ones? Or go with the bird in the hand?

4 hotties and you’re left holding your bird? Hmmm

He has an offer. Meaning that LSU wants him. That is not a statement of fact at all.

If he wants to go out of state thats fine he doesnt have to justify it to anyone. Its his decision but dont say things like LSU offered late or other coaches got a head start. Early signing day is December he has an offer plenty of time to decide what he wants to do. Saying Kelly gave a token offer or arrived late (yeah no shite) is an excuse.

Really really late in the game. It was a token offer. Kids dad played at LSU.

Matthews dad played for LSU and he has a committable offer then he should jump on board. Seems to be a story similar to Travis Etienne who may have been lost in the shuffle when Les was fired and O was interim coach.

LSU did fine winning a National Championship in 2019, Etienne had a fine career at Clemson and was on the losing team to LSU in 2019.
