Cool.
He ain’t Sam Leavitt and not everyone recovers the same.
We will see what we have if we land him.

Matt Mauck wasn’t a duel threat QB

Matt most certainly was a dual threat QB. Go look at the film.

He did. However, he had to change the way he played in 2003. He became much more of a pocket passer and limited the QB runs that were his only game as a backup in 01 and still a big part of it in 02. To his credit, he did a great job. He still had his mobility in the pocket, but was smart, efficient with the ball and stayed healthy.
Leavitt’s legs are currently a big part of his game as well. He will likely have to adjust that a bit to stay healthy and manage pain through the season.

Spend some time watching the 2001 SEC Championship game. He hurt his foot against Florida on his 15th carry of the game.

Is this real life?

You obviously are young or didn’t watch Mauck. He ran a lot. Yes, the year they won the championship after his surgery he ran less, was it due to his foot, or was he just more comfortable in the pocket and offense after experience, who knows?

His total rushing yards his whole career at LSU was 345 yards. That is not dual threat

He had 97 yards rushing on the year in 03 yall don’t know what a dual threat qb is

He was an option QB originally and came to LSU after years away from the game while playing minor league baseball. If you recall the 2001 SECCG, he could barely pass the ball and ran QB Draws repeatedly. He was still pretty damn raw at the beginning of 2002, but really turned a corner in the UF game, when also unfortunately got injured late in the 4th with the game well in hand.
He played more as a pocket passer in 2003 after recovering from foot surgery.

Just like not every "car accident" is the same (head on collision on the interstate vs fender bender in the parking lot), not all ligament injuries are the same.
But most of you myopic mouth breathers are too dumb to realize that.

Because they had a dominant running game from the backs and Saban blew the previous season by running Mauck and getting him hurt.

I sold Shrimp to his family in Indiana few years back

Matt Mauck might be close to the text book definition of “dual-threat”

He played very little in 01 outside of the SECCG and only played in the first six games in 2002. Also, this was a Jimbo Fisher Pro-Style Offense with plenty of I Formation and the RBs doing most of the running. A lot of Mauck’s runs were QB Draws out of the Shotgun and Speed Options with the RB as a pitch man.
He WAS a dual-threat for the time, at least before the injury. As much as a QB playing outside of an early Spread Option could be. It was just a very different era of football.

Seriously??? Jayden Daniel’s was textbook dual threat Matt mauck wasn’t close to attempts or yards in any year he played. Mauck Maybe a good scrambler but defenses weren’t scared of him running the ball.

Mauck also had a set back during his recovery and needed another operation
And that was 24 years ago

Dude. Just shut the frick up until you watch the 2001 SECCG. He literally won that game running the ball against a UT team that beat us earlier in the season (I was at that game) and would have played for a BCS Title. Once Rohan Davey went down, his legs were the main offense.
Comparing Jayden Daniels to any QB who played in 2002 is fricking foolishness. Football just wasn’f played the same way. No one was running QBs like that (unless they played a lot of option) until Rich Rodriguez at West VA and Chip Kelly at Oregon.

Point taken. But I still think Leavitt would need to adjust some to manage pain through an entire season. That’s a real thing. We saw it hamper Nuss quite a bit this season.
