Somebody explain to me - what difference does it make for these big time recruits ,that I'm sure consider themselves one and done ,where they go to school? The Phillips and the Allen's of the world would be stars at LSU or a new school.

They still have relationships with the coaching staff. Ours is gone but the staffs at the schools that finished 2nd or 3rd in their recruitment is probably still around.

Because you want to play for head coach/staff you like, especially if you're a one and done caliber

With Wade being fired, payments won’t be made to them. Have to “re-establish relationships” and see who the best “fit” is. If you haven’t figured out, have to let the money be figured out from another contender to decide where the best place to play is. Part of that decision is Wade, but we’re all naive to think that these kids are so in love with Wade and LSU that they want to play here with no financial considerations. Wade gone, strong arse offer gone and no head coach.
New head coach can’t come in and offer tons of cash unless LSU has NIL firmly figured out. In light of sanctions, I wonder how they affect our ability to do some of these deals especially in bball for a couple years

It's not surprising that these guys are bolting considering all of the uncertainty surrounding the future of the program.

Getting the right head coach to lead the program for the next decade or longer is more important than none recruiting class.
As someone else said, don’t be naive. This is because the agreed upon deals are now off the table. So they’ll shop their services again

A few of them will “enter the draft” since there’s no longer a limit and if you’re say, Brandon Murray, who might develop into a pro in the next couple years, you get some exposure and let them see you up close. Everyone else will probably enter tPortal
How badass of a recruiter was tPear? You know everyone was negative recruiting like hell (and they’ve been swirling like vultures since the news dropped) yet he was still landing these studs

My point is they couldn’t develop the relationship with the new guy All e of the de-commits said their looking for a NEW team. LSU isn’t even a consideration now…..whoever returns will be a star on next years team

None of them know what the program is dealing with so I would expect all of the to leave right now. We know 3 either have no eligibility left or will enter the NBA (Eason). The others will find other programs where they can compete and have a chance to get to the NCAA tournament. With NIL at play, they'll probably stay in the SEC and just move the safer ground.

If you think Wade had more “available cash” than places like Duke, Kansas, UNC, Louisville, Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, Texas, Michigan St, etc, then I have a nice bridge to sell you. Those places had much more “ammo” than LSU, and Wade was still taking players they wanted …which pissed them off. Wade was a “kid” (under 40) at a “football” school who was not supposed to be getting such players. Don’t think for one second those coaches didn’t work behind the scenes to get him out of their way.
Just like Ole Miss was not supposed to get football players LSU, Alabama, Georgia wanted, LSU was not supposed to get players Cal, K, Roy Williams, Self, Rick Barnes wanted.
Wade NEVER accepted LSU was supposed to be a “football” school and was ultra aggressive in trying to build a program to prove it wasn’t. Unfortunately, that led to his downfall. So the rest of the CBB world and, sadly, many LSU fans now expect them to return to their rightful place as a mostly average program who is allowed a good year every now and then

I know the players came because of Wade, but I’m hoping after a year or two at the school some have grown to like it here. Then maybe if LSU makes a good hire the new coach can convince a few contributors to stay. I’m sure there will be a ton of turnover, but even convincing Fudge and Murray (for example) to stay would be huge.
Hell, Murray might average 18 PPG here next year once his wrist/hand heals and he gets a 30% usage rate because nobody else on the team can get their own shot.

Wade was paying them big money to come to LSU. Now that Wade is gone, so is the deal. Make sense now?
