He is ranked as the 679 player and the 55 ranked OL....Hmmmmmm....can LSU do better than this. Is M. Mascoll that much better than Ashton Helaire OT 6'5'' 318 from St Thomas Moore here in Louisiana. Granted, I have never seen in person or on film either of these players But would either of them really have a chance of developing and playing at LSU against the 4 and 5 star players that Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas A&M, etc are signing. Please tell me that Brad Davis is in the running for better OL players than this!

Does Ashton Helaire have an offer from Florida and other Sec school?

Mascoll is a borderline take for Georgia right now depending on how some things fall - is Helaire ?

Go back to the rant dumbass

Also Georgia has averaged 6 3* per class over the last 2
A&M didn’t even finish in the top 10 last year and Ark not in the top 20

Post less. You don't understand how recruiting works.

Funny how nobody questioned Davis’ eye for recruits when he pulled in Campbell and Heard in consecutive classes. Perhaps the guy who feeds his family coaching and developing offensive linemen knows what he’s looking for.

OL recruiting is based on potential or fit a particular type. Apparently Mascoli is the upside type. Has good suitors and it's a crap shoot so if Davis is good with him so am I.

That is a cool and logical response...thanks....and I agree with your assessment.

Coaches see them in person. This single fact along with your admittance to not knowing much about the player, on the hoof, or of their film pretty much makes this thread totally pointless.

And Whit Weeks was in the 470's overall before he landed in the top 100... living and dying by rankings is a good way to make yourself look foolish.

pretty sure college coaching staffs know WTF they're doing.

2,174th Nationally rated player, 308th ranked WR ... LSU could have done better than this huh ?

HS teenagers are recruited based on their raw talent, potential for development, and projections at starting 2-3 years down the road.

edit: interesting tidbit with LSU connections. Marcus' older brother Justin was a stud DE out of HS and signed with Clemson in 2018. He played in the 2020 NC game vs. LSU as Marcus and family were in attendance. Witnessing the fan base and watching LSU in person left an impression on Marcus who was 13. His CFB dream was to follow in his big brothers' footsteps and play for Clemson. Dabo never offered even after having a relationship with the Mascoll family.

If this isn’t the dumbest sh*t I’ve ever read. So you’ve never seen film of either but think you know better than an experienced P5 coaching staff?

History says you should trust the rankings. There is a direct correlation with high classes and national title

The people who want to follow the rankings religiously make me remember Curly Hallman. Hallman signed 4 of the top ranked running backs in that class (iirc) and not a one did jack.. The coachs' evals mean much more to me.

That’s because your too old to make sense of data. You’re seriously bringing up curly hallmark? Hahaha. Recruiting has changed so much since hallman you might as well be talking about Julius Caesar. We have years of data that tell us stars matter. Anyone that refutes it at this point is just too old or dumb to understand it

Who said we weren’t gonna have a high ranked class? You trust the coaches on individual players. Why are y’all acting like we’re not gonna have a top 10 class?

Point being Brad Davis knows what great offensive linemen look like because he’s recruited them. If he thinks this guy is worthy of a spot, I’ll take his word for it.

Holy shite this comment is so goddamn stupid it hurts my head.

Funny, then, how the staffs who regularly recruit the most 4 and 5* kids just so happen to "know WTF they're doing" more than the ones who regularly recruit 3* kids. Or do you think it's a total coincidence that national championship teams generally have elite recruiting *rankings* in the years preceding their titles?

lmfao the fact that youre capable of naming a 3* who turned into a superstar means absolutely nothing whatsoever--at least to anyone who can do math at even a modest level. Literally all you've proven is that the probability of a 3* turning into a star-level player isn't literally zero. The fact that it's not impossible for 3*s to turn into studs does absolutely nothing to change the fact that 4 and 5* kids are WAY more likely to turn into star-caliber players than 3* kids.

Yeah, no shite. That's how they're ranked by recruiting services, too.
