An interesting prospect. FR 6'4 208. Was the #5 QB prospect in the class 0f 2024
Scouting report:
2023: Posted a 13-1 record as a senior, carrying Benedictine to the semifinals of Georgia's AAAA playoffs. Completed 168 of 267 passes (62.9%) for 2,578 yards with 24 TD and 2 INT. Also totaled 558 yards and 7 TD on the ground. In the postseason, doubled as a SAF for the Cadets.
Scouting report:
quote:
A dynamic athlete for the quarterback position that played both defensive back and wide receiver at different points during high school career. Might not have been a freshman and sophomore starter like some of the other high-profile signal callers in the 2024 cycle, but still managed to post a 26-3 record over two seasons, winning a state title as a junior and making another deep run in the playoffs as a senior. Has continued to progress as both a passer and a field reader. Velocity is by far one of his biggest strengths at this stage in his development as he can challenge tight coverage windows and get the ball across the field on a tight line. More than comfortable operating on the move and is built for an offense that has plenty of designed quarterback runs on the call sheet given his overall toughness as a runner. Frequently gets out of trouble when the pocket breaks down and can create off-script, although there are times when he will try to do a little too much. Is far from a complete product, but has a higher ceiling given the combination of his longer frame, arm talent, and movement patterns. Likely will need a few semesters before he’s ready to push for playing time, but projects as a multi-year starter for a Top 25 program that could eventually blossom into an NFL Draft pick.

Sounds like a Nuss clone. I'm game to sign him up after we get all the other major needs

Really?
He's 6'4 and had almost 600 yds rushing as a SR in HS
Seems closer to Burrow than Nuss. Burrow ran quite a bit in HS

Not according to his dad. He says the transfer decision is not NIL related.
He could be full of shite or he cound be telling the truth and wants his son away from the dumpster fire that is FSU. Idk

Not saying it's not about money. But the family doesn't need the money.
I don't think fits malzahn type of qb and may not be interested in that scheme. I think he'd rather be in a pass first focused scheme. Who knows where he ends up, but there certainly might be some lsu interest.

I don't understand how this guy is the top QB and No.2 overall prospect in the Portal (on 24/7)
At least he was a few days ago.

Have you seen the other QBs in the portal?

Because this season was such a disaster Norvell can't afford to turn things over to this kid and hope it turns out well. He knows he's gonna get recruited over by a portal guy and probably doesn't like that.

That doesn't explain him being the No. 2 overall prospect.
And I like multiple other QBs over him.

Which ones that are currently in the portal would you want over him?
I am not challenging you or anything. I am genuinely curious. The ones I saw were really bad. Like the A&M and OU QB. USC QB was meh. Maybe you feel some are salvegeable? I'm not really seeing any that stand out. I think some around here like the New Mexico transfer?

I would take Moss, Arnold and Weigmann.
Also, FSU will have to go to the portal, so they obviously think there is someone better or they would keep him.

If you're looking for a hired gun/immediate starter sure I'd take the first 3. If you're looking for someone with upside to develop, then he might be a good take.
I still.think he probably left because of a likely change of scheme that doesn't fit what he was recruited for. Norvell needs to make some.decent progress compared to this year or he's going to be toast, so.makes sense they are looking to transfer in a more experienced qb to fit malzahn system as opposed to trying to spend a year developing luke and possibly having another poor season.

They're supposed to be pushing for Castellanos from BC. He does fit Gus' offense and he dragged his nuts all over FSU this season.

I actually like Arnold. He played behind a horrible offensive line that was always banged up, and all his receivers were hurt. I think he could be good, given the right landing spot.

Maybe I missed it, but has any reputable source connected LSU at all with a portal quarterback? I haven't seen it, but that may be me just overlooking it. I would hope Nussmeier has told Kelly he's returning. If not, they're kind of dragging their feet as far as looking at a quarterback, in my opinion.
But who knows? They could possibly have their eye on another starter or backup who is still playing in the playoffs.
Anyone interested in another transfer QB from Arizona State? Ohio State?

According Lester Early we could easily get a replacement for Nuss in the portal right now until he announced his return.
