LSU’s class if Bussey committed

Does anyone know how much LSU’s 2024 class would go up if he joins our current list? I have to admit, I have been critical of the class, but it’s overall ranking doesn’t seem that far behind the schools in front of them not Bama, OH ST and Georgia.

You can use the class calculator on 247 to examine any scenarios you like then compare them against current class rankings but you would be basing your comparison on assuming no other teams get any additional recruits. Really hard to predict what it would do to this class compared to others until closer to esd when most recruits are really committed

LSU currently has the 13th ranked class on 247.
If we add Dre'lon Miller, we move up to 9th.
If we add Miller and Bussey, we move up to 4th.

Doesn’t matter where it’s ranked. They not filling needs in the secondary and defensive front

Thanks, I am a member of 247 and never thought it to use it, my dumb arse. Man, so #4 if we flip Bussey and Miller? That makes me feel way better about this class.

Yes they are. I wish people who don't shite about recruiting would stop making statements like they're factual. They're not.
If you think we're bot gonna add any more defensive backs or Dlinemen, come back for your crow on both ESD and NSD.

It is kind of mind boggling how we have not landed any defensive tackles

This class is shaping up to be a pretty damn strong class, I can’t recall having that many linebackers and secondary recruits coming in. We going to have some talent to develop at corner and safety

It isn't when you realize LSU doesn't have a DL coach

We should have put him in an analyst role and hired an actual coach like we did with Kragthorpe in 2011

True, but not a single tackle for 2 consecutive classes, unless the kid from Westgate is one. You’d think they’d have took more guys last year, but they did bring in JJ, Shand and Lee.

I didn’t realize signing period was over. What day did all our guys sign?

What do we need that we are not signing? 3 edge, 1 DL, 3 CB, 2 S. 2 of the edge guys and the DL are 3* but at least one of those I have seen and he is pretty darn good, looks better than a 3* to me. CB & S are all 4*

Pretty sure On3 rankings are based on average player ranking for the class. So, we have the #1 ranked kicker in the country but because of his low ranking, he drops us several spots. Makes no sense.

Edges, I'm assuming, are Cobbins, Jackson and Breaux? Jackson is the only true edge long term. Cobbins is a tweener who is an edge skilled kid without edge size. Was originally recruited as a true LB until we missed on everyone. Breaux is not an edge.
The DL is Johnson, who apparently only Lindsay sees the upside in and Breaux who is a SDE/DT rotational type guy. He too a version of a tweener. Neither move the needle for me.
The CBs are Bates who's on flip watch, Johnson who will be transitioning from hs qb, and Foster whose greatest asset is his recruiting and motivational skills.
No complaints about S. Both are good prospects.
Need another true edge, a couple of true DTs, maybe a SDE. Lose Bates and you have no CB that can logically be expected to contribute immediately or above 50% on the boom bust ratio. Causey wouldn't change that.
Miller is a WR, Bussey a jack of all, master of none that is likely a S/nickel or yet another WR. They help rankings but not needs(though talent is a need). Of course you take them and there's time to fill the other spots but the prospects that seem to be available to us dont inspire confidence in success. Gap fillers taken out of desperation not want.
Unless we expect to suddenly become flush with NIL money and are gonna buy all the TAM kids we only lost due to money from what I hear constantly on our boards. The logic in that scenario is there according to the water cooler but very difficult to see outside our vacuum. We are about to get the bargains of the year I suppose. The graciousness of these kids to leave all that money on the table. Strange behavior for kids just a couple of months ago accused of being greedy for chasing the bag. I truly admire the mental gymnastics it takes to rationalize it. Skillful indeed.

Can’t understand why you are getting so many downvotes. You are exactly correct when we have almost no CB and DT talent in this class right now, which are LSU’s biggest needs. Instead people will slobber over a meaningless ranking just like they did with Miles and Orgeron.

So no matter the quality, as long as they get some recruits labeled as “CB” or “DT”, you will be happy? I am not even talking about stars here but players with potential to have an immediate impact.
Relying on the portal to fill significant holes in the team and without the support of high school recruits for the long term will do nothing to make LSU a real title contender.

You realize that the players actually likely to have “immediate impact” are probably in the portal, right?
If your sole definition of filling the roster need is high school recruits who are day 1 starters, then you might be a tad unreasonable.

Hard to hire a permanent DL coach in August.
