No argument from me there Casual!! Right now I wouldn’t have her Top 5. Probably Top 10. And I hate to say it but Bama been struggling. But if LSU can have two Top 10 arms they should be in wonderful shape!!!!!

TigerAssoc: You’re too opinionated on this board to be letting folks know you were behind the plate. I immediately went back to the video to see if I saw you LMAO

Lmao I didn’t watch but I’m honestly not surprised. She’s like Nolan Cain on LSD half the time sending runners

I’m very complimentary of Torina when warranted but tonight was a crap show at 3rd base…it’s time to get a offensive coach at 3rd not a pitching coach who is clueless in how to run a offense

It’s crazy how little softball I’ve watched the last five years with Dobson around and I’ve even seen her carelessly send runners home entirely too much

2nd and 3rd 1 out… 2 hole and 3 hole up and she attempts a squeeze against freaking Southern Miss up by 4…just crazy

Well there’s only 1 new staff person…Simmons is a charity hire…on another note Berzon should be number 2..she was 64-65 on tv and getting hit hard…

I think she’s going to add another staff member with more time to look around. But Neal alone is a breath of fresh air compared to Dobson.

Understood but Dobson would have been an upgrade at 3rd base coach and let Neal take over the offense..instead she consults with the charity hire! This is what Torina did to Dobson with Leftwich but this time the new hitting guy will leave very quickly!! No hitting person will want to deal with a clueless idiot whose only qualification was they played here…

That’s kind of dumb to assume a guy who has been a hitting coach for decades would step aside for a young guy. It was either firing him or retiring

No clue but maybe if he could have ran the game offense from 3rd and Neal do the day to day hitting it might have intrigued him.. I get it I think Dobson was a excellent coach who was sabotaged by Torina and you think he wasn’t very good.. no biggie

How exactly did she “sabotage” him?

I’m not exactly inside the program so I have no context. She is a former pitcher I can’t imagine her micro managing the hitting

Split the hitting duties between her “friend” Leftwich and Dobson..when we were elite on offense with Bell et al, Dobson was the lone hitting person..

Ahhh. Maybe that’s the case. Either way I think change was needed. It’s been painful to watch LSU at the plate for a long time now.

Man, there's a lot of really bad takes in the last 4-5 pages of this thread.

However, Virginia Tech beat Bama 2-1 yesterday. Tigers are looking good!

Ouch!! Casual, tell us how you really feel?!! LOL!!! The hope is that BECAUSE it was Southern Miss she may be experimenting on aggressiveness or what she may or may not try later this season. My guess is Neal aspires to be a head coach somewhere but it'll be at least a couple more years I think before he gets such an opportunity (if he gets such an opportunity) at a good school so unless Torina is abusive to him which she clearly isn't he isn't going anywhere. He and his family just bought a house there too.

Hate to say it but I agree with you on the "charity hire" with Simmons. Don't think she's a great coach by any stretch of the imagination and hoping Beth doesn't let that loyalty thing she has going on hinder the program. But she's gotten away with it thus far. If their present play translates to the SEC this year she will probably be judgment proof when it comes to her position. The eventual additional hire needs to be a good one though, but shouldn't be an offensive coach hire to avoid clashing with what looks like a trend the right direction.
