The only issue I have with the 247 composite is the "weighted" system. If you look at it now we have 21 recruits, the same as Ohio St. We have a higher average 92.28 vs 92.09 but still end up below OSU in point total by 4 points. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
We have a kicker that's greyshirting dragging down our average ranking.

Whichever service has us rated the highest is the best and most accurate.

Absolutely! Rivals is for now. When 247 gets their act together they will be the new heroes. That is my homer, narrow minded view of it and I am sticking by it:)>

I thought Bama has to sign 25 this year bc they signed 27 last year back counting 2 from the year before?? Other than just being “Bama” how are they signing this many players every year?? One reason I heard is they are convincing players (sometimes 4 stars) to grey shirt and “pay their own way” the first year

There's a really good explanation for how they can take 27 this year in SEC Rant if you care to find it.

would contribute very little to the point total because he is the worst player
So, basically, they grade higher for the top, say, 15 players in a class more than the last 10? I think I know what you are saying, just don't see why they'd do it like that. I mean, if a 3 star player is the highest rated player for a certain class he gets more value for them than he'd get if he flipped to another class and he was the least rated player in the class. Say, he flipped to a team with 24 4 stars committed, then his value wouldn't be as much as it would if he was the best in a class of 24 2 star's?

3 star guys that caused star gazers to groan-see if you recognize a trend:
Russel Gage
Justin Jefferson
Foster Moreau
Lloyd Cushenberry
I'm no star gazer and understand the importance of filling depth needs. Also, with the 85 limit, we need guys to get processed out.
However, listing a few 3* guys that did well is not a trend, not by a long shot. For every 3* that contributed on a high level, there are probably 10 others that did little more than ride the pine.

Yeah we shouldn’t use Rivals

I asked on the SECRant and one of the more knowledgeable (if that’s possible) Bama posters said they were able to sign 27 again this year.
That’s all I know.
According to 24/7 this is the number Bama signed since 2015.
2015 - 24
2016 - 25
2017 - 29
2018 - 22
2019 - 27
And claiming 27 again.
I’m sure if you ask on the the SECRant some Bama genius will tell you why they are allowed to legally do this.

Supposedly, they took 27 last year but only signed 25.I don't completely understand how that translates to 27 again this year. It has something to do with greyshirts and being able to sign some early enrollees to the previous class if needed. Basically, they are able to keep a few slots open from previous classes that they can fill one way or another, freeing up a few for the current class.

If a player comes in and isn't on scholarship they can take as many as will come. They probably have some kind of financial aid deal where the player gets his school paid for but doesn't count against the scholarship limit. Who knows what kind of BS they doing their.

I can't believe a "National Champion" has that many 0*.
In fact, I didn't even know a 0* was possible.

So he's a commitment but he is going to greyshirt? If he does greyshirt he won't be counted in the final rankings. I mean, greyshirts don't sign scholarships. I believe these rankings only factor in scholarship players.

That is all nice and good. But most folks are going to find it very hard to respect those they don't like. Some can to a certain degree. But in the end you don't like them, so respect is limited - as in the least amount possible LOL! Someone is going to respect a very competent person even more if they actually like them. Human nature:).

same with Clemson
Not really. Clemson has not had top 5 recruiting classes.
According to 247 in 2015 Clemson had 26 recruits and ranked number 9, in 2016 they had 21 recruits and was ranked 11, in 2017 they signed 14 and were ranked 16. In that 2017 class they signed 3 top 100 players, 6 top 200. In 2018 they signed 17 and 7 were top 100, 10 top 200. This 2020 class is shaping up to be the best class they have ever signed, by far. Clemson has done a great job of evaluating players and filling needs, plus they have had great game plans against the better teams. But their recruiting classes have not been top 5 and such.

If we sign 26 players, he'll greyshirt.
If we only go with 25, he'll be on scholarship in the fall.
As of now, he's included in the average ranking.

Who is the kicker? He doesn’t show up on 24/7 commited list.
