I know LSU is known as DBU, but it needs to also build a reputation for turning out stud OL. Football games are won in the trenches and our No. 1 downfall in many of our losses has come down to the inability of the OL to perform at a high level. I'm happy we have Kardell coming in, but we needs guys like him stacked up at every OL position. The one thing Alabama has over us is each year they plug in another monster to replace the one that just left. We've had some success running the ball, but in the BIG games, we just don't have the talent along the line to consistently perform game in and game out!

This isn't news. You have to get them here before you can develop them.

The problem hasn’t been interior linemen it’s been on the outside. LM view on moving interior linemen to a tackle spot was stupid... with a few TEs in the 19 class I hope we skip and use that spot for another OL.

OG
Pull Justin Rogers or Andrew Raym... Seams like its 50/50 with Raym and Rogers might be a pipe dream
Miller Merriweather-Lewis 4* FL seams like 60/40
Sedrick Van Pran from New Orleans 70/30

OT
Courtland Ford 4* Verbal
Got to get one of the Tenn OT
Make Damien George out of Texas or
Marcus Dumberville out of Florida a need
Finish up with a development kid like Brad Ward out of Mobile

LSU is always going to be a slave to what LA produces. There have been hits here and there OOS but the bulk of the roster is LA.

That’s why losses like Cam Robinson cannot happen.

Ohhhhh. Damnit, the coaches have been purposely going after subpar talent and not really caring much about the OLine at all.

Hopefully they’ll figure this out so we can be great. I’ll email them a link to this thread.

Every year I'm hearing about a stud CB or S were in the running for, but never OL. We should have 4 and 5 star OL players lined up 2 or 3 deep. It seems like we're always praying to land one big OL each year and most of the time we don't get the guy. This is just one area I think could really change the direction of our team and put us in serious contention for league and national titles almost yearly!

Both LOS are keeping this program from taking that next step.

Memphis has a bunch of talent this year that needs to be taken advantage of by LSU, considering the recent success in that area.

2-3 4* OL and a LB

More recency bias that fact

Outside Malone we had a solid run of tackles who went to to play tackle in the NFL

Just looking st LT, prior to Malone we had

Hawkins - tackle in the NFL
Collins - tackle in the NFL
Dworacyk- injury replacement
Faulk- good LT never recovered from knee injury
Ciron Black- 4 year starter, all American, had knees cut NFL short before it started
Andrew Whitworth.

It’s not an unimpressive list of tackles st LT.

Unfortunately all to true. We are tipping plays as well. At least past Alabama players have shared that they know every play

worth noting, not a single Grimes recruit on that list. Several Studrawa. Now Grimes coached La'el and Hawkins, but he didn't recruit them. And that is my point.

Anyone know when the last time we, a perennial top-10 team, recruited a top-5 OT (I chose top-5 because we regularly land top-5 RBs, CBs, Ss, and WRs)?

I don't have to look it up because I looked it up last year when Cregg was incoming and it hasn't changed... 2013 Ethan Pocic. Who ended up at C (and we really could've used him at OT that year- 17 sacks at 64% running the ball in 2015).

All I'm saying is this: our recruiting of OTs needs to improve, significantly. I see the fail in the lack of priority, or as Les would say- want. That and Grimes had an obsession of trying to make hay with "projects".

By "priority" I mean devote equal resources, time, visits, and especially expanded geographical coverage for OTs as you would a stud RB, WR, or QB.

It's not all about the highly ranked guys, the 5-stars. It also about finding and keeping guys like Cody Ford and Matt Womack while also developing them.

The fact of the matter is LSU will not get over the hump without improving the Oline, drastically. This has been the biggest weakness with this team in recent years. The inability to maintain balance against good Dlines has cost the Offense any chance at development.
