LSU lands Stanford CB Transfer, Terrence Alexander for 2018

LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and his staff have reeled in another commitment on the recruiting trail, but this one brings a veteran name onto LSU's roster.
On Wednesday evening, Stanford graduate transfer Terrence Alexander announced his decision to commit to LSU, where he will sign and join on as a scholarship player this summer. The New Orleans native has one year of college eligibility remaining.
Alexander elected to transfer out of Stanford earlier this year, receiving a full release. He plans to graduate at the end of this quarter, then enroll at LSU in the summer, putting him onto campus well ahead of fall camp in August.
The addition is a big one at a position of need for the Tigers. Alexander is one of the top cornerbacks available on the graduate transfer market, and LSU's in need of cornerbacks with only one returning starter in Greedy Williams.
Alexander said the Tigers are recruiting him as both a cornerback and nickel, while also seeing a role on special teams, including a potential spot in the return game. Alexander ran track and played football at both John Curtis in high school and then at Stanford.
The addition of Alexander will count back to LSU's 2018 signing class, where the Tigers signed just 23 of the allowed 25 prospects. This leaves LSU with one more additional scholarship available from last recruiting cycle.

Good to hear. We will certainly need his depth and his experience, but I think him being a Stanford guy falling into Arranda's Defense will be highly underrated.

Who cares. We need him to be an elite CB for us with LSU choking on the Patrick Surtain recruitment.

The guy is smart in many senses of the meaning. Sounds like this guy thinks way ahead and had been in the right places at the right times, which also tells you something about him.
He will add another leadership role to the secondary and IMO adding his talents with what we already have may be better than signing a freahman for 2018. Now after the answer would be NO. But O could very well make up for that with a couple of JUCO guys and then 2 or 3 freshman All Americans. It's LSU and Louisiana plumb full of athletes that can play this position with some coaching. Good get boys and girls.
I will be watching closely how Alexander, Moss, the kicker, and Fehoko perform in 2018 because they were basically part of this 2018 signing class that MANY people have been crying about, lowest rated in years, but if the play on the field says differently, then they were all very much wrong. GT

Let the Doc and Moffitt do a complete check on him to make sure the injuries from last year are good to go and then turn him over to Raymond and lets roll.

This is what happens with horrible management by your CEO head coach.
LSU has now lost 2 multi-year scholarship signing spots for two one year players in a kicker and a 3rd string level CB at best. Guy is a genius I tell you.

Why's he a horrible poster? Because he stats facts you don't like to hear? Are you one of those people who have a box and don't step out of it in your own little world? This guy is nothing special. He'll be a name on the depth chart and that's it. You're in trouble if he comes in and starts or maybe even just playing. Had O did his job, we wouldn't be in this position right now.
Also, I don't get how anyone on this board can say because this guy is from Stanford he can digest football quickly in our D. He's clearly academically smart but that does not mean he's football smart. The guy is a transfer. Come the frick on. Jesus. He can pick it up fast but just because he's from Stanford doesn't automatically mean he can.

Which makes you wonder, if he was granted an extra year, why is he leaving Stanford if he's a good CB? Their talent level is not better than LSU's there, and he had 4 years in the system. If he's leaving its because he wasn't going to get playing time there, which should tell you something.

While that is a likely scenario, it’s just one of many plausible explanations. He’s from South Louisiana, so what if he has some family or personal issues going on and just wants to be closer to home? He has his Stanford degree and now he has an opportunity to play for LSU. I say welcome.
