True. But those two...
- positions of need
- highly touted
- and not just lost to another school, to THAT school
and yeah, maybe Monroe is unfairly targeted. I don't think so. Bama is working it well, we know this. Because it's these two, the spotlight is on.
The world is smaller. Tx or Bama, or ND or bumfrick wherever doesn't seem so far away anymore. "In State" ain't what it used to be. Hell, most of these kids don't identify with a state anyway, in any state, anymore. Not like us.

This recruiting season is a shite show.
I have quite investing mental energy in the decisions of where teenagers go to college. It's obvious les and staff have been resting on their laurels and now it is showing. Recruiting is the single most important aspect of college football. More so the coaching IMO.
We will still have a top five class and I predict 3 maybe even 2.
But, it's ridiculous how les is getting schooled in his own back yard. He needs a bigger recruiting budget and more eyes/ears.
Best part is, I don't care. We'll do well with what we have.
Geaux tigers.

and one more thing I seriously doubt these same recruiting conversations are happening in other states but that's just my opinion.
Lived in georgia for 4 yrs and constantly heard on sports talk radio about how UGA was failing to lock up the state and that was hurting them on the field. My parents lived in houston and there was constantly talk about how many top recruits were leaving the state of texas. So yea this isnt unique to louisiana.
P.S. i remember looking up our % of keeping the top recruits in state vs other big programs and we fare quite well.

Uh, i'm pretty sure it's happening in places like Georgia, and North Carolina.

Clever I guess. I'm not so much mad as I am just over it all. I read the RB often but some of the shite going on in today's recruiting world is mind boggling. Saban has found new way to skirt rules year after year and every year we're shocked when he pulls a 5 star out La. Kids are now contacted by ESPN to do their pick on live national television. It's just a world that has gotten completely out of control.
i agree with all that.

I think wed have to look at our success rate at getting the states top players to lsu vs the rates of other football powers. I think ud be surprised.

Slow your roll son. I completely understand what LSU is about to reel in, and I'm as stoked as anyone. I'm no where near the edge of the roof as you would say. I'm just saying THIS thread is depressing, all the highs and lows. Back off dick.

Does Dr. Eye still have that enormous house on the Bayou DeSiard country club? I went to a function he had there once many years ago.
known him for 30 years and never knew him to live in an enormous house on the bayou

Like I said. W. Monroe used to be die hard LSU territory.
For whatever reason, les doesn't do what it takes to keep up with the joneses.
His biggest downfall is fixing issues a year or so to late. North Louisiana should have been fixed 2 years ago.
Stud? What the frick. Talk about taking things for granted.

But, it doesn't matter how much time LSU spent in Alabama. Alabama high school coaches will not cozy up to Miles or anyone from LSU the way that Louisiana coaches cozy up to Saban. He is still revered/feared in Louisiana and people don't recognize that his intent is to syphon talent out of the state until LSU is finished.
I was blasted for stating this the other day. Some people, young and old, still revere Saban. Some still prefer to identify Saban with LSU.

He may have rented something like that, but live there... don't think so.

It was not on the bayou...was on the Bayou Desiard Country Club golf course.

But, if the best player in the state wants to go to USC, or Bama, or Florida State, so be it. Good luck to the young man and I hope his decision works out for him. I won't cheer against the kid ever. I'll just cheer against his team when they play LSU.

You don't understand what I'm saying. Maybe I said it wrong. I am fully aware of recruiting in Louisiana and every other state for that matter.
Also aware how shitty Georgia recruits it's own state etc.
Not the point I was making. This is an unbelievable year in Louisiana and we are not maximizing.
In other words, we could be doing better. We SHOULD be doing better. It's a bad world, you do whatever it takes.
frick it. I'm tired and don't even feel like talking about it.

Big picture. In-state MAY not matter in big picture.
In CRob and Hootie's case it does matter because of their destination. But it's not devastating because LSU is getting talent elsewhere. If they weren't, and depended on in-state, then this would be devastating.
But Bama will get the talent anyway, if it wasn't Hootie we'd still have to face somebody just as good. As long as we're doing the same... ALL GOOD ON THE BAYOU!!!

Sooo any word on Les putting his feet on Hooties mom table while watchin football and spitting out bones on her floor??
