Is it true cal can move ahead of us with a 197.6 regardless of what we score? That doesn’t seem accurate. I also
Want us to do be in whatever position that avoids being in the regional
With auburn as the three ceed

Auburn is finished I wouldn't except Suni to compete again for them. The program is gonna go back to being a Tier 3 SEC gym program.

I called it last week- Bryant for SEC gymnast of the year. She has the numbers and momentum on her side. But I’m not sure if it’s announced on Saturday or next week (in which case the performance at SECs would be taken into account)

The SEC is notorious for delaying the announcement of SEC GOTY. They definitely take it into account. With a finish as close as Thomas and Bryant, I can easily see it coming down to who does better at SECs.

I also wonder if we will see Suni again. I don’t think she would abandon them at the end of the season but maybe they just don’t feel like there is another run on the table like last year? Who knows what is really going on with her. I can’t blame her for doing what’s best for herself. I also CAN blame the judges for the insane change in scores other gymnasts (on her team) get when she isn’t competing.

No, we will stay ahead if we score better at SEC's than they do at PAC-12's. Our lowest score to drop is 197.5, there's is 197.550. So our potential gain is slightly higher

I was thinking last night that if kiya, alyona, and cammy came back our vault lineup next year would be stacked. There would be no excuse for a full to be near that lineup. You would have hayleigh, Aleah, chase, Tori, alyona, kiya, and cammy all doing 10 start vaults. Hopefully that would be the push to get kj and Bryce to do their more difficult vaults, because if not I feel like they will just keep doing the fulls. Those 3 are the only ones I see coming back. We should have at least 2 scholarships available for next year because of deferring.

Just dropping in to say that I for one do not like the new post season SEC championship. I feel like it is an extreme change for adding just one team to the conference. Are we forgetting how battered up these gymnasts are by post season? How did someone have a brilliant idea to add yet another meet right before regionals? I'm curious if the conference spoke to the coaches in the league to get their input on this before approving this new format.

Also, how will session teams be determined since the winner of each session moves to the final? They certainly can't keep the current format for that.

quote:

Gymnastics

Regular season: Each school sponsoring a gymnastics team will meet each other member institution at least once a year on an alternating home and away basis, consistent with the current process. An additional week will be required to accommodate nine teams.
SEC Gymnastics Championships: The championship will move from a one-day event to a two-day format. The semifinals will consist of two sessions of four teams each. The top seed will receive a bye to the championship. The top seed plus the two session winners in the semifinals and the team with the next highest score in the semifinals will advance to a four-team championship.

I didn’t realize they were doing this new format. Also not a fan.

I assume this is for when Oklahoma comes in? I guess it just is a way to keep the sessions with 4 teams each. I see no reason why the session with 5 teams could not be the bottom 5 seeds.

And thinking a little further on this, how are they determining the top seed? I assume the same way they do now, which is NQS. If they are going to give a bye to the top seed then I wish seeding for SECs would go by regular season head to head wins first, then NQS as a tie breaker. In other words, the regular season SEC champion team should get the bye regardless of rank. Make it all about the SEC since that’s what is at stake.

This would at least make the regular season title mean a little more. It gets the team an advantage at SECs and not just another banner to hang.

I know it is Cami's intention to return. Kiya is strongly considering 1 more year, but I don't think she would take 2 even though she theoretically could. Alyona is also strongly considering it. Much of her decisions lye with family concerns as well as cost since the 5th year is not covered by scholarship, but there are some options there. I have no idea what Kam is doing although I get the feeling she's done along with Maddie, and Lexi mostly because their path to the floor is narrow

Kamryn is done. Her mom, she and the program all indicated on social media that her exhibition routine she did on senior night was her last for the tigers so I highly doubt we will get her back. Same with Maddie and Lexi given their history of injuries

I did not see Haleigh in the group picture. I hope all is well for her.

ETA: Aleah just posted this and said KJ and Haleigh were already on the plane and not to worry....LOL

Well I hope the meet notes are wrong again. He has Alyona in AA. I’d rather see Dunne AND Cowan in the lineup, not OR. And I’d rather see Bryce on beam.

The lineups generally aren't wrong, the routine descriptions have been though

Only thing that seems up in the air is Cowan/Dunne on bars for that last spot. Cowan looked really good during podium training so I'm interested to see how that works out. I just wish she could have gotten a little more experience prior to SEC's but if her number is called I hope she nails it like last weeks routine

I miss Bryce on beam. She did great when Aleah was sick. I also prefer Cowan and Dunne both on bars over Alyona.
