I’m thinking of the regional awards during post season. There is also Jocelyn and the surprise of the year, to me at least, Katelyn Jong from auburn.

ETA: there should be a foty award though!

Regional awards are based on Region (hence the word REGIONAL) not national. Even then and even still, Utah is not in our region and neither is arkansas based on how they’re set up. Kailin has been consistently far and wide out performing Keko (not Katelyn) Jong from Auburn so far and Auburn as a team is not a threat to us in the slightest, nor have they ever been. They just had the benefit of US Olympian overscoring privileges while Suni was competing, which went away the second she stopped competing.

Keko’s success is not a surprise to anyone that has paid attention to the elite circuit. She won the 2021 USA Junior Elite National, bars and AA title, was second on floor to Kaliya and third on vault in that same year behind only Josc (Joscelyn) and Kailin. She’s been a formidable competitor for years but hasn’t gotten the recognition for it behind the other big names. The world was her oyster when it came to recruiting and I’m glad she chose a lower tier program like Auburn so she could have the chance to compete in the AA regularly and actually show people how good she actually is.

Are trying to come across as mean or am I just reading it that way. either way I never said auburn was a threat, I don’t keep up with elite circuit, and I’m sorry I got the dam awards wrong.

LSU has 4 recruits that are qualified for the Winter Cup this weekend.

Audree
Hezly
Annalisa
Malea

Also, Nina Ballou will compete in the Nastia Luikin Cup this weekend. I am not sure about Elyse or Haley.

Press Conference
Chase is out for the season with an Achilles rupture. Konnor is training floor and vault (DTY?). KJ did a full floor routine on the rod floor on Sunday. Haleigh did a full bar set on Sunday and is available for lineup selection. Tori, Alyonna, and Dunne are all ready for bars.

I personally am glad mustari is not doing gym this season so she can heal and not come in banged up next season.

I would look for lineups to be the same this weekend as they were last weekend unless they rest Aleah. I look for them to rest girls the next weekend at George Washington or against ga the next.

I don’t think Alyona is the answer to anything on bars given her consistent dismount issues.

I’d honestly see Tori get another shot on bars to get her confidence back this season after her struggles with that exhibition bars routine, OR Livvy if she’s ok enough to go on bars over Alyona. Alyona honestly adds more depth on vault and floor for the current roster we have over any other event for us

Really gutted for Chase, though suspected that was the result.

Agree with Alyona on vault and floor over bars, though don't know what her health status is and whether she is able to compete those events. For vault especially, we don't need anything other than a 1.5.

Chase being out hurts us a bit on vault but not too much, even without her the lineup against OU will probably be our postseason lineup I think: KJ, Finnegan, Lincoln, Drayton, Chio, Bryant. Zeiss probably as reserve. I suppose Konnor may be an option health-permitting but it's getting a bit late in the season to introduce her.

Floor we should be fine. Ballard with the 2 pass routine looks good. Dunne always good for a backup and there should be some others with a serviceable floor eg Coen. Alyona would be good here for depth.

Bars... honestly, I think Tori is pretty far down the line of options. We already have Cowan, Jeffrey, Chio, Finnegan, Konnor, Bryant who are basically guaranteed if healthy. Zeiss is doing pretty well as leadoff so that's a 7th person. Then 8th would be Dunne again I think - she is always ready to go even at the last minute and has a high hit rate. There's also Drayton, whom I think has really nice form. Imo Tori would be after all these other options for me on bars unless something has changed

Alyona has only ever competed a 1.5 in college and that’s the vault she ruptured her achilles on as well as the vault she would come back to and compete.

Livvy has not scored above a 9.875 since her sophomore year and is consistently in the 9.7 to low 9.8 range with her bar scores. Jay said in the press conference yesterday that they changed around Tori’s bar set to make it easier for her to hit consistently every time, and even then, her exhibition routine was her lowest bars score EVER (only 2 scores have ever been under 9.8 for her during the 2023 season and she has a career high of 9.95 compared to Livvy’s career high of 9.925 which honestly should’ve been much lower with her form issues throughout the routine that Tori doesn’t have). With all that in mind, I still say we give Tori another go on bars to see how the new routine plays out before we make any decisions but 3 things I can note are that 1. the exhibition she did this year was a fluke, 2. her form is much cleaner than Livvy’s and always has been and 3. she has a higher scoring threshold and hit ratio than Livvy so why not give her one more chance to prove herself before we give up on her bars set as a whole.

I am afraid I think I just disagree. Tori looks laboured on bars now - yes she looked better than Dunne a few years ago in another season. I've also looked at Tori's career high 9.95 routine and honestly that's not a 9.95. She is short on the final handstand and has a very visible significant leg separation on the Pak salto. I also think that what is important is an ability to hit: Dunne is a proven competitor and iirc Tori did not feature that much in last season. She featured in her sophomore season as we were very lacking in bars depth then. Things have changed significantly with the addition of eg Konnor, Drayton, Chio, Zeiss, all former elites and with good competitive track records and who look in good form generally. I hope I am wrong and that we will be able to see Tori in at least another exhibition

Elyse has been dealing with a concussion. She is hoping to be back in at least a few events this weekend.
