I think my biggest question is are the coaches going to let Konnor compete her difficult series the whole season and what is her hit rate. Last season KJ let Faith, one of her best beamers, start off with a difficult dismount that she hardly ever stuck in competition and she was mostly stuck in the 9.8s but by postseason KJ swapped out her dismount and Faith was getting 9.95+. Konnor’s situation is even more pressing because we’re talking about a fall vs a stick. I love the difficulty Konnor brings but it feels like it will be a roller coaster ride each week to see if she hits beam with that series.

Congrats to Haleigh and Amari for their SEC Honors this week. The team left for Utah today. Keeping high hopes for a good meet for the team this weekend.

Has anyone seen Chase with the team in Utah on social media?

No, I’ve been keeping my eyes glued looking too!

They posted a team picture and it doesn’t look like she is there

Is it too soon to set a hashtag #whereischasebrock? Jk, if LSU did not disclose it, it's probably personal life stuff. But like, I really miss seeing her compete

Right?! Like her vault at 101 was so good!

These Bama vault scores…I cannot.

With the way that scores were flying for the teams tonight - we really should hope to capitalize with a good road score tomorrow. I know it’s early, it the judging is even crazier than it was last year.

I saw where we start on beam then go to the Olympic rotation after that event. The format is new for this year. Praying for a steady beam tonight although starting on beam can bring on the nerves for gymnasts and fans. At least beam will be behind them after the first rotation.

Lilly Lippeat (former recruit) had a solid debut for Clemson going on all four events and 9.9 on bars.
I was impressed both Kentucky and Florida put up freshmen 1-2 in their beam lineups and all hit.

Session 3 of the ESPN meet was a Cal show. They finished with a 197.875. Wow...

Some of my takes - that no one asked for lol - on yesterday's meet:
- Kiya should not be doing AA every week, but unfortunately it seems that that's the route they're going for. Her yurchenko double is not competition ready, so I'd take her out of the vault line up for now, until (and if) she consistently gets the landing. That's allegedly the event we have most depth, so we could come up with something there (also, Chase Brock). Kiya's bars was great - like great great. I think beam was just a fluke, given what went on before her - she's still an essential piece there.
- Beard was great on beam other than the fall. No built-in deductions on that routine. Once she gets consistent in that 2nd spot, they should even try her on lead-off IMO. Her dismount is much more stickable than Jeffrey's and having a standing front tuck in your beam lead-off is a CHOICE.
- Sierra will not go over 9.850 on beam at nationals even with a hit. It's just what it is, given the routine construction. But I'm okey with her competing for now as long as it is not a fall fest.
- The Sierra to Olivia on floor does not make sense to me. Olivia's routine is not going to build off of Sierra's when the latter gets properly awarded. It's not impressive enough and it's not clean enough, so I'd say experiment other options on that second spot. Cowan has a potentially great floor lead-off type of routine that sould also be considered, followed maybe by Sierra;
- Bars was great of course. I do not love to see Sav followed by Bryant though, their routines are almost identical - but that's just me. I think Sav - Konnor - Bryant would make more sense, if Konnor keeps getting consistent. Tori and Cowan should be competing for the second spot and I really like how trustful those routines are. Jeff's lead-off is money - and they can't deduct for the squat on the landing anymore, unless her hips go below the knee joints.
- Finnegan keeps impressing me each and every meet. I'm always anxious about her triple series, but the girl has ice water in her veins. Regarding bars, If they don't change her dismount, I'm cool with her being a 3-eventer. Her floor and beam are obviously irreplaceable. On vault, I feel like the Omelianchik is just going to score big when she sticks it. They seem to either go very low for that one (dismount + plus shape in the air) or lights out (ignoring shape in the air deductions because of the stick). Maybe time to try the 1.5?
That's it. What y'all think?

-Vault: We should see some rotation throughout the season. I fully expect Chase to make the lineups if/when she returns. Hopefully, Sav's mishap was a complete fluke, not a mental block. If KJ can hit her vault consistently, I find it hard to take her out of the lineup. Haleigh and Amari are locks for me, but I have yet to see Kiya stick her vault.
-Bars: Lights out! The best I have seen our bar lineup since the days of Finnegan and Priessman. Who would have thought that moving Kiya back in the lineup would increase her scores? I think it would be smart to switch Sav and Konnor. I thought Sav (especially) and Haleigh were underscored last night. The only spot up for grabs is the second spot with Tori, Cowan, and Aleah fighting for it.
-Beam: We just need to hit! If Kiya had done her usual beam set, we would have scored around 197.5. Annie is built to be a leadoff with Alexis right behind her. As much as I love Sierra, her beam is not consistent nor high-scoring enough to be in the lineup. With more experience, Konnor will become more consistent. Haleigh, Kiya, and Aleah are locked in the lineup.
-Floor: Very positive showing last night. Sierra is a great leadoff. Like bars, I think the second spot is up for grabs with Amari, Konnor, Liv, and Chase fighting for it. I don't see too much change in the latter half of the lineup unless we rotate to rest them.
Should be a great meet against Kentucky next week!

I wish that Alexis would replace the standing front tuck on BEAM with another forward skill. She is getting hammered on the pause before execution, a deep landing and sometimes a wobble. Her score would go up with the change. She has very nice lines.

I agree that switching Konnor and Sav makes more sense but it’s probably a matter of what Sav’s lineup preference is based on where she was in the lineup for most of her career at UF (5 to Trinity’s 6).

Jay expressly stated in the interview just after the first meet that they switched Aleah’s vault back to the Omelianchik from the 1.5 just before the first meet because of an issue with her wrist and the fact that the 1.5 puts more strain on her wrist with her block on vault. The Ome is easier for her to do at least until her wrist starts to feel better.

If Kiya had done her usual beam set, we would have scored around 197.5.
Other than that I agree that Livvy needs out of floor in place of Amari, Annie should lead off on beam, Jeff’s punch front needs to go in place of a front aerial to standing straddle jump leap for bonus and we need to start testing out our other 1.5s in the vault lineup until Kiya can stick her vault. Sav’s 1.5 on Saturday just looked like a mental block/twisties to me

Looking back at the bars rotation, I wouldn’t be opposed to having a lineup order of Alexis, Tori, Sav, Konnor, Kiya, then Haleigh. If just to give some space between Sav’s and Haleigh’s almost identical routines.
Also beam, I would give Annie another shot. She was out all last year. She deserves a little more time to get her footing.

Drayton should be an automatic lock on floor I was disappointed she wasn't in the lineup. they are leaving money on the table.
Livvy needs to be off floor unless Kiya needs rest. I know she is an upperclassman, but Drayton's floor is a 10 waiting to happen that floor routine can not be denied.
a floor of Ballard, KJ, Drayton, Finnegan, Bryant, Kiya is high caliber.
also Annie should be given several more chances on beam. She has poise and you cant teach that.
