That will be a big loss, and will need another CB to step up. I'm hoping Jalen Collins

Um, Tharold Simon?

The LB position will continue to be a position of weakness especially losing Baker, and will need someone to step up there too.

I think Minter and Jones are settling into their own as the year goes on. By '12 rolls around, I think I'll feel better about the LB's than I did going into '11.

Um, Simon is getting a decent amount of playing time now. There will be a need to have another CB step up. Chavis obviously likes to use the nickel package and drop in to prevent defense fairly often, and with Brooks leaving that will create even more of a need.

I think Minter has improved greatly over the year, as has Jones. But to say I'd feel better, I don't know.

I know this is random...

But who do you guys trust more in coverage this year...

Mathieu or Brooks?

IMO, they're both the same player. Mathieu just has a knack for causing TO's.

That's tough. I don't know if I've seen(noticed) enough Brooks as much in coverage as I have Mathieu. Offenses have pushed Mathieu in to singular coverage purposely to try and exploit his height and aggressiveness. He has stepped up a couple of times and has been so so other times. People that are saying he has gotten burned, ehh, I'm not buying it. Every CB gets completions on them. Most of the time he's got pretty good coverage and has the quickness to make up for some of his aggressiveness when they get a foot up on him.

I keep forgetting about David Jenkins. He was considered the best cover corner coming out of HS, but I haven't heard much of anything about him and how he's doing in practice.

Dandy Don has him in his safety depth chart. Don't know if DD had a brain fart or Chavis is really moving him to safety.

I feel better about our LB situation next year. Baker is a big hit but we have some young guys getting experience this year and I think they are getting pretty damn good.

I think Minter is going to be our biggest contributer at LB next year and he will only get better.
Tahj has just got to put some weight on . Dude looks like a string bean out there.

I won't miss Francois. He just seemed to lack football instincts. Rarely got out of blocks. Hits the wrong holes. Rarely around the ball. I guess if his bad play did one thing, it allowed some of the young guys to get some game play in.

I would not worry to much about the CB position. Someone will step up, we have to many guys on the bench right now waiting for their turn. Gibson(although listed as a Safety), Vinson, Martin, Collins, Eugene to just name a few.

I love Jones as a LB, he will only continue to get better and looks like he has a great nose for the ball.

I would love to see Jones get to about 220 if that would ever be possible. He would be a terror. I think some of these incoming recruits could contribute quickly too, and don't forget about Trevon Randle. That guy is going to be a beast

Quentin Thomas is more comparable to Logan but his upside is better(not a knock on Logan;that guy gets my award for biggest suprise on this team).Thomas moves very well for a kid his size.He has the ability to be a very disruptive pass rushing force up the middle.Maybe not as impactful as Dorsey and Nevis but in that mold as a pass rusher.

David Jenkins will be the cb that steps up next year.Hear he is really special and has made a very good impression to Cooper this year.

LB is a bit of a concern but honestly none of our younger LBs can be as bad as Francois and Hatcher. It's just the law of averages.Jones is going to be a good one.If only he could add weight.Minter is the prototype middle lb in a 4-3.Muncie has looked solid but I need to see more.Keep an eye on Trevon Randle.Hear he's making some noise in practice.Ryan Baker part 2 I think. He will be a special teams beast.

Agreed. I don't get why you take your two worst safeties and turn them into even worse linebackers.

Do you guys think there's any chance chavis moves reid to linebacker and has one of the freshman or sophmore like Ronnie Vinson or hopefully Landon Collins step up and play safety? Reid does have some size now

Reid is our only surrent safety with any significant playing experience on the roster. I believe he and loston will start at safety and rotate with collins if he commits. T.Jones and minter both have to put on some weight but will be contributors at LB, along with munice and my darkhorse justin maclin.

I think Lamar Louis is really going to turn some heads when he gets to campus. He outperformed Kwon Alexander at the "Opening" or whatever that was called. He is already a physical specimen

Ferguson will be a good one down the road i believe. Just needs to continue gaining strength and getting reps. I think we all know Johnson will be a monster.

I agree w/ Ferguson. He is one of those guys that if he could keep the motor on all the time, he'd be an absolute monster. And he is only a freshman. He will be a great one before his career is said and done

I too think that Quentin Thomas will be a good one. I've heard reports that he has really impressed people at practice. I would really like to see Mickey Johnson play next year, because I think he could destroy some lineman. They won't be able to get any leverage on him. It sucks that the state of LA is down on DT's this year and next. We definitely need at least two in next year's signing class depending on how this year goes.
Remember the name Isaiah Golden. Hes a beast DT from TX, that loves the Tigers...2013 class.

You think we get Golden for 2013? I sure hope so. That guy looks really good. I figured he would be A&M or UT's to lose
