Small state. Not great economically, limited reach economically, lack of big businesses, smaller alumni network than other SEC schools, etc. All this is hurting us. Need to funnel some serious cash into NIL and make their own marketing department in the AD.

We may see a big power shift in the NCAA soon due to this and transfer portal. Probably why USC went in raw on OU because they have the power of SOCAL behind them which can bring some insane NIL deals.
Step back from the ledge. If state economy was the most important variable in football, the Saints never win a Super Bowl.

Quinn Ewers has made over $1 million from NIL deals and he just entered the transfer portal

Nobody is or should imply fraudulent businesses to break the rules. I’m talking about legitimate businesses that pay for advertising to partner with LSU athletes to attract the best talent to Tiger stadium.

nobody is saying that you need to create fraudulent businesses to funnel the money. Of course it is done through legitimate businesses. But we have to be competitive with A&M and Bama in this. It is going to take a shite ton of money to be competitive in this new NIL age in recruiting and player transfers. Like someone said, it's like NFL free agency with no draft or restrictions and no salary cap. The old bag money man is no where near as relevant and the stakes to play just went way the frick up.

I believe players in their locker room will get disgruntled knowing some guys are making life changing money and others aren’t. It’s a very slippery slope especially with the transfer portal available.

That's why you have to pay all your players fairly well, some more than others of course. Just like there is differential in pay in NFL locker rooms, it just has to be managed. You want to be known as a school (whose alumni businesses, boosters, and donors) that takes care of it's players ($$$).

From what I've read, like in this Boston Globe article,
quote:

Athletes will not be allowed to accept payments or kickbacks for choosing one football program over another. This is simply for third-party deals.

But there will undoubtedly be endless ways around it.

I read somewhere that LSU had locked up a deal with Lincoln Riley, and I could "book it".

with LSU being a bigfish themselves, I'm curious to see how we can take advantage of the NIL in the early goings. With the transition of the new coach and staff incoming, I'm not sure how much they'll be able to recruit the back end of 2021 class
