Hopefully we see more players commit to return. A necessity in the modern era.

Article on BJ Mack, Wofford

quote:

LSU

The fit: KJ Williams showed that talented big men can absolutely make the jump from the OVC to the SEC and put up numbers. Williams averaged 17.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for LSU. Mack has some of the same inside-out tools that made Williams an All-SEC selection. Williams is off to chase professional moola, so Mack could easily slide into his big role in the wide-open LSU frontcourt.

The quote: “With them having Matt McMahon, we played against them this year. I was able to get an in-depth and personal look at them. They played through KJ Williams. I could see our similarities so I could put myself in a position in the SEC. Also, I know I have a lot of high school friends like Cam Hayes that play there. When Coach Matt was at Murray State, they were recruiting me. I have been able to build a relationship with them before.”

Unfortunately also from the article:

quote:

“I built a relationship with those coaches and made sure I felt comfortable being able to play for the staff,” Mack told 247Sports' Brandon Jenkins after unveiling his top 10 schools. “I made sure each team had a goal in mind of being able to make the NCAA Tournament and having a chance of being able to make a run in it. These ten schools gave me the opportunity to be able to put my game on a platform and do that.”

Fountain sucks. Let’s be real. Kid couldn’t see the floor at Mississippi St. if that’s your caliber athlete we’ll never make a run at anything other than mediocre to shite.

Hope McMahon has some magic up his sleeve. Waiting for him to maybe develop a good team in 3 to 4 years will totally wipe out what’s left of the fan base. Fountain would be decent coming off the bench, and at this moment, he’s our best player.

That's not completely true. He started 10 games and played in 19 as a true freshman at MSU. He played 25 games in his second season at MSU.

If you are relying on him to be your go-to guy, he's not that. But he was 13th in the SEC in player efficiency rating this year (of the 12 above him, 7 were first team All-SEC this year; 2 were second team ALL-SEC). He's a guy that does a lot of things to help you win games...but he needs better players around him and/or a better overall approach from the coaching staff.

Many coaches across the country would gladly take Dereck Fountain if he were to choose to transfer after this season. LSU had a TON of issues this season. Fountain wasn't one of them.

Not everyone is great or sucks.

Fountain isnt an SEC starter but he would be a good piece off the bench next season. 6'10 (somewhat) dynamic big men dont grow on trees.

Lets be for real here, if we had like 7-8 guys transfer there's no way McMahon is finding better players for them all. It's not a bad idea to keep your better players around then just replace the worst ones with better players there. We got some solid bench guys, McMahon just needs to go out and grab 3-4 starters.

Ward/Reed/Phillips/Hayes/Fountain/AceWolf are some good players to add more talent to go along with them, the rest of roster should transfer and be replaced

Brandon Murray entered the portal. I doubt he's going to McNeese (though Wade would try desperately to get him). Any chance for a potential homecoming?

It was miserably cold in the northeast this winter. Maybe he misses the warm weather? I would call, but not sure if he has any real ties to LSU.

He’ll probably go wherever Nickelberry goes

Well, he did play at LSU and (for now) some of his LSU teammates are still here. Taz Mitchell is still on the LSU staff (though I'm not sure how close of a relationship they had). It would be the longest of long shots as he may see it as coming in to "backup" Miller again (though Murray has clearly been more individually successful thus far).

Of all of his potential transfer options it's hard to say he's not most familiar with LSU.

Wade said, he was bringing back all his old staff. Why not, he was successful with them.
