You said 4 recruits? Who will they be? Anthony Gilkes, Jason Jackson, Jalen Lee, Malachi Palmer? A recruit we arent thinking of? Or is this rest of our class gonna be portal additions?
If I remember right, it was said McMahon wanted 3-4 HS players in this class. I imagine other HS names will pop up in the spring but it’s obviously not a given how that will play out. It’s obvious too that the staff will have to hit the portal again as LSU loses (at least) 6 players from the current roster after this season. Post play will need to be a priority.

BTW, it's official. Vyctorius Miller signed with Oregon.
I realize this really doesn’t matter now but Miller verbally committed to Oregon. I didn’t see anything about him signing a letter of intent.

Who are we losing besides Baker, Fountain, Hannibal, Dean, Wright?
Posted on 11/16/23 at 5:02 pm to LSUFan2700
I think Fountain has a Covid year.

Fountain and Wilkinson (and technically Cook) have covid years.

Maybe we can get back into it with Miller and he signs with LSU late you never know how all these recruits will react to the season. We did it with Ward and Reed. We can probably get a few more recruits who decommit or unsign depending on what happens in March and April

Gotcha, I forget about the COVID year. That would leave 2 spots then. I’m sure there will be other attrition but don’t like to speculate on that.

2025 4-star SG Joson Sanon is scheduled to visit LSU this weekend per on3. Sanon plays for Vermont Academy in Massachusetts and has offers from Arizona, Indiana, and Kansas among others.

I'm having trouble linking the article for whatever reason but on3 did an interview with Sanon at the National Prep Showcase last weekend. He said he grew up liking LSU. He may be one to watch as we head into the spring especially when you consider LSU lost out on Miller and he has an opportunity to reclassify.

It's good that he said he grew up liking LSU, that LSU plays fast, and he has heard has a great atmosphere, then when he described what he wants, he said he wants a great atmosphere and somewhere that plays fast. It seems that what he wants fits how he described LSU the most.

Was he referring to LSU football?

Here’s a link to the interview Sanon did with on3: LINK
He was also named as one of the top performers from Day 1 of the National Prep Showcase last weekend by Jamie Shaw, on3’s national basketball recruiting analyst. Here’s what Shaw wrote about Sanon:
He only played one game over the weekend though presumably because he was scheduled to visit Arizona last weekend too.

quote:
Sanon showed his smooth shooting ability. He is very smooth getting into his shot off the bounce. Playing within two and three dribbles, he attacked his spots on the elbow – going both ways – and rose up with balance and a consistent release. Off the catch, the shot was a little different. He short-armed a couple, leaving them short or off. The touch is there, and the jump shot is his weapon, he will need to continue smoothing things out off the catch.
Athletically, Sanon is there. He was a very useful team defender in this one. He guarded the ball on the perimeter and he caused trouble in the passing lanes. Sanon also rebounded his position well. Nothing was forced with him and the ball did not stick in his hands.

Sanon is nice. Would love to have him but we're competing with some tough schools.

Are players who signed letters allowed decommit if there are head coaching changes? Schools will generally let them out. There are usually a few extra decent freshmen available in April as a result.
The early signing period benefits the institution or the player? Institute gets a hook, player has fallback in an open market.

I look forward to the frontcourt ability as the season goes forward, however this team needs a couple alpha paint owners in the same class. Baker was a big pickup but doesn’t have any consistency; I don’t know if he’s more concerned about a three at the top or freaking out when trapped!!!
Dean, fountain, Reed, wilk, ward, Hannibal are all experienced.
Baker may need to come off the bench imo. There’s a ton of roll players around him but if he gets pressured, he can’t find em. Or play mid range. Shits broke.

How many transfers do we take out of the portal? And who decides to come back?
