Four high schools in four years, including Huntington Prep, a school you normally wouldn't leave if you're a star recruit.

Exactly what I’m thinking. Wade wants talent but only if the talent will work hard and not be a diva. Jones’s downfall was bringing Ben in. Ben didn’t get along with the team, didn’t practice with the team, and even at shoot around before games he wouldn’t interact with the team. Wade would never allow that. To wade and all good coaches no one player is bigger than the team.

From Andrew Slater on Twitter
quote:
The family of top-ranked Jonathan Kuminga @JonathanKuming6 said this is, “Fake information... We will give an update on Jonathan’s recruitment soon. For now, he is focused on his online classes and enjoying time with his family during this pandemic. Thanks.”

It's not fake, he's just trying to save face for it not to look bad. There's no reason Billy would have reported that for any reason other than someone connected directly into the program told him that.

So are we thinking he’s just a diva and Wade ain’t bout that life?
Posted on 4/14/20 at 11:33 am to The Truth 34
Maybe. No one on LSUs team is a diva and I love it. If everyone played like E Williams we’d be a force.

As the post explained, he's been to 4 high schools in 4 years. He is not the best culture fit probably anywhere, but for 7 months might be worth it for the talent alone.
I compared him to Antonio Alfano/Zach Evans as a "super talented" but maybe not worth the trouble kind of pickup. I guess Wade and Co just would rather not deal with him even for the 7 months he'd be here.

I don't have a problem with that and applaud it.

The only diva on that team was Tim Quarterman. Without Tim, that team probably goes to an Elite Eight.
Go look at what Josh Gray is doing. If he was able to play without Tim, that is an absolute elite team.

So his downfall was bringing in the best player in the country

Yeah going to have to go with hell naw, dog, here.
Jones' shortcomings were his ability to coach. There was no reason to miss the tournament that year, Ben had a fantastic freshman season. To call him a cancer/not a team player/didnt get along with others is beyond false.

If you remember Ben problem was and still is making an outside jumpshot. Jones let Ben run the team to the ground. I was elated when we got Ben but came mid January I was over this diva. If you watched them pregame no one seemed to like Ben. The team was doing one thing and there Ben doing his own thing with his own people. Tim got feed up with this and called Ben out out on it and jones backed Ben and his diva personality. So Tim was like forget this team I’ll get mine just like Ben does. That was the downfall of jones. Never let one player control the team.

Why did he need a jumpshot?
He averaged 19 points, 12 boards (3 offensive), 5 assists, 2 steals and a block per game and shot 56% from the floor.
I shouldn't have to explain to you for a freshman those numbers are ridiculous, they're really good for any classification, let alone a freshman.

Good lord, he was the best player on the team, he didnt run anything into the ground, without him that year we're a laughing stock.

So clearly you're just in that dumb group of LSU fans who think one of the best ever freshman seasons ever at LSU was the reason that team did poorly...LOL, alright
Going after the best player (who was really really good) for a team being bad is still one of the most mind-numbingly bad arguments I've seen in sports discussions ever.
"Oh hey, this team wasn't as good as they could have been because the best player on that team was really really good"
O, REALLY?

And yet he still is an NBA All Star type of player.

Jones let Ben run the team to the ground.
Jones put the ball in the hands of the best player and No. 1 overall draft pick. Any coach with half a brain would do likewise.
quote:
Tim got feed up with this and called Ben out
Tim couldn't hold Ben's jockstrap.
quote:
So Tim was like forget this team I’ll get mine
Shows just how immature Tim was and his jealousy poured over into his performance on the court.
quote:
That was the downfall of jones.
Simmons was not the downfall of Jones. Quarterman was the divisive factor on the team.
quote:
Never let one player control the team.
You should tell that to Tim Quarterman.
