Lutheran South is absolutely loaded, they also have a UT commit and others going D1. Omar has a perfect 10 ranking from PG.
Last time Lutheran was in Louisiana they won 12-0,13-0, &14-0. Game against Barbe recap video LINK
While in Baton Rouge they have games against: Dutchtown (Thurs 6:30pm) UHigh (Friday), and Parkview (Saturday morning).

Is he a big draft risk

good friend of mine's son plays at Lutheran Southern and is 6'2" 195 RHP/1B class of 2026 (JR this year). He threw a 1 hit SO vs. Barbe several weeks ago. Perfect Game has his velocity between 88-92 as a SO last year. Realistically he's probably in the high 80's. Currently undecided and has visited UH since he's basically in their backyard (family lives in Alvin, TX). Wyatt is probably LS's 3rd or 4th best P this year and could be next year's Ace. W. Cool story incoming.
Omar trains a lot at a locally owned indoor practice facility here in Pearland. He also helps coach youth baseball camps there. My two boys will always go to camp wearing their LSU gear. He always hangs out with them after camps and just talk to them. Any other time we see him there he always says hey and talks to them.
He's a great kid and I wish him the best at whatever he does, but my kids will be devastated when he goes pro instead of going to LSU.

When you can offer half of what they can get signing, esp when they play a position and not as exposed to an arm injury, life on campus in BR is a lot more appealing than the minors.
And a C at LSU is going to get the experience of handling professional arms.
Never would have thought Schmidt would make it to campus, but now I'm encouraged that we can pull some of these higher round kids.

Thanks for sharing. People don’t realize how epic this team is. During Friday’s LSU game, Lutheran vs UHigh will be happening 100 yards from Alex Box left field.

NIL may be the only savior for kids tempted to sign a MLB contract. Play 3 years in college and enjoy the best years of your young life. Get a chance to win a NC and still get drafted in the 1st round. Dylan Crews' lifelong dream was to play for LSU and wear the P&G. He bet on himself and cashed in his Powerball ticket. Each family's financial situation is different and most kids who came from nothing can't afford to turn down life changing money.
Randal Grichuk is a kid who played LL in Pearland and was a stud at a very young age. When offered an MLB contract after graduating HS, he took the money and has been in the league for 11 years. Great humble kid and going pro early worked out for him and his family.

Pearland sent a kid to A&M last year didn't they?

Yes, Nico Partida. Freaking awesome pitcher/SS that throws mid 90's and another really great kid. I will root for him to succeed. Great baseball program.
Other "small town" cool story.
I coach my son's Little League team in Pearland. I drafted the grandson of the head baseball coach at Pearland High School. He had to bring him to practice one day and just stood to the side the entire 90 min practice observing. I didn't know what to expect when I saw him just watching.
At the end of practice he walked over to me and commended myself and my other coach on a good practice. He asked some questions about my background and offered to let me and the team sit in on practices at the high school to learn.
Back on Serna, I agree NIL has helped and Partida would have gone pro if not for A&M's offer. I know Omar really loves LSU, but it will take a "strong a$$ offer" to get him there.
