As far as I could find, 4 players have started their summer seasons:

Austen Roellig with St Cloud (NWL)
Trevor Schmidt and Derrick Mitchell with La Crosse (NWL)
Maverick Rizy with Worcester (Futures)

ETA: And it looks like Blaise Priester will not be playing in the NWL this summer, he's now on the Rougarou roster.

Is Schmidt the replacement for Bear?

He's a L/L 1B/OF. If Bear signs pro, he'll be the frontrunner to replace him. At the very least he'll be a platoon option there and at DH.

Priester and Neal will be the catchers, wildcard is Arambide if he doesn't go pro, would not shock me if Jay brings in another transfer catcher because Neal needs to make significant improvement defensively if he's the main catcher
I think Brown gets a look at 1B if Jones leaves
That would leave Larson in RF, Pearson in LF and competition for CF
Harden, Mitchell and assuming Kling returns as well will battle for outfield spot along with any transfers
Will be interesting to see where Frey fits in, he could get a look at 1B as well and at a minimum DH
I think Milam could shift to SS and options on the infield will be Kucherak along with Reaves and Ryan (newcomers) and another transfer likely as well

I would say Larson is a much better fit at 1B than Brown.

I think Larson has held his own out in RF so I think he sticks at that position
Brown makes me nervous out in CF but he does have another off season to get better all around and can stick in CF with improvement

I don’t see how you waste Larson & Browns athleticism at 1B.

They have guys that are pro typical 1B

Brown has more than held his own if Larson has. I think they have both been good. I can only recall Brown making a misread once in Hoover? I must be not remembering other misplays to make anyone nervous. Also he can move to either OF spot and be just fine. He’s fast and athletic. Brown I would say is more athletic than Larson.

I think (like Lester said) that others will play there anyway.

Brown definitely looks more athletic, and I believe Jay said he’s one of the fastest players on the team. Frey probably profiles most like a 1B if jones leaves. Frey didn’t look very good in limited OF opportunities.

LHP Bradley Stewart - EkU

RHP Will Riley - VMI

RHP Ryan Verdugo - Cal St Bakersfield (draft risk)
