I understand the comparison. I just don’t see Larson’s swing/approach producing 20+ homers. I think he’s a really good hitter and will take big steps. It’s just my opinion he’s not ready for that big of a jump in power. All good.

I really don't understand why yall keep posting Larson's SEC only stats. Those were probably his best 22 games of the year. Why are we acting like the nonconference, SEC tournament, and NCAA regional didn't happen? Again, I'm really not trying to be negative. It just seems disingenuous to not look at his overall stats which look significantly more pedestrian than his 22 regular season SEC starts.

I mean generally speaking it speaks the most to how it will continue to translate again the best comp. Most would compare how he did against SEC arms vs how he did against non conf arms to project his future. I don’t think that’s crazy. Yes, he slumped in the postseason as a true freshman but saying “his best 22 games of the season were against SEC arms” is not exactly a bad thing

As most of you know, progressions aren’t linear in baseball. I’m high on Larson next year but sophomore slumps are real. Once teams get a comprehensive book on you then it gets real. That’s what separates the stud from “just a guy”.

I agree Solo. SEC will find your weakness. Overcoming your weakness is the most difficult thing to do.

I don’t remember too much about how he did in the NCAA tournament, but he was absolutely putting the barrel on the ball in Hoover. They just weren’t dropping.

He had several balls that would have been HRs at most SEC east parks. He also had a few that had the wind still been blowing like it was earlier in the game would have been over the wall.

You have a weird obsession with ragging on this kid and discrediting him for some reason. It’s very Rudy like.

Not much news on the baseball front, so just throwing something out there to talk about.

Just a few predictions on this class:

I'm not sure any player in this 11 man HS class will be a true starter as a freshmen. I see our rotation as Shores, Eyanson and Anderson. I believe Schmidt will play the role Herring played last year. I see Schmidt as a late inning stopper. Curial is a dude, but I believe he needs a year in the weight room. Can he hit over .300 as a freshmen? We will see. Arrambide will start some games, but I believe he will a distant second to Priester.

Some sleepers I'm excited about. Pearson is top of my list. Thick frame suggest natural power, not just weight room power. Quick hands suggest a lot of contact. That's a good combination. It's going to be hard to find him at bats, but I can't wait to see what he can do in the fall. I watched an interview about Rizy. His parents said he refused pizza night because he was on a strict diet. His reasoning impressed me,"I don't want to have any regrets, that I didn't do my best to achieve my goal". That's maturity beyond his years. It might not be year one, but watch out for this guy. Doyle said Hogg is a metrics darling (barrel speed and such). The metrics suggest this guy can hit and he might be the most natural 3B we have this year. He will be fun to watch in the fall. What Victorian is doing this summer has got my attention. According to Doyle, Ryan should have been drafted. I don't know much about him, but looking forward to seeing what the buzz is about.

I feel like I’m in a bizarro world.

This dude sounds like burreaux’s brother. Just want to shake people sometimes for being so stupid

Landon Victorian started today against the league leading Wassau Woodchucks (17-5). Victorian went 5 IP, allowing 2 hits, one run, and struck out 7. His line for the summer is now

14.2 IP, 6H, 1ER, 20K.

I think I’ll watch that tomorrow. He’s our only guy still in the northwoods league. And that line is very promising.

promising group for the fall; 6 returning starters is tough to crack for the freshmen crew. Excited to see how they do. if Doyle was right it will be hard to keep the bats of Hogg and Pearson out of the lineup.

Hopefully the fr are willing to wait and develop and not hit the portal if not satisfied with playing time early

I actually don't think that's a major factor for most players. What is more important is will they ever start? Kling for example could have found himself on the bench in his junior draft year. The same theory basically applies to all of them. I can't really blame them.

It's not ideal for our team but it's not major losses either. When we start losing projected starters then I will worry.

These freshmen won't mind waiting their turn as long as they see a path to eventually starting

I think we’re open at C and I think the OF is open.
mid your outhitting guys no one has anything locked down there.

hell DH might be open too but I think Hernandez gets it.

If Dalton is good enough to DH then he’ll probably grab a corner OF spot.

I think DH and OF will be platoon split opportunities.

I wrote out line ups last week and we could play platoon advantages at every spot except catcher if we wanted to. We just don’t have any LHH catchers.

That’s extreme, and we won’t do it, but it does mean we have options.

who do we platoon in the OF if we want RHH?

Are Pearson. Brown, Larson, Curiel and Dalton all Lefties? So basically Stanfield and the 2 best against LHP

Yamin and John Pearson.

Josh would be the 2b on the LHH team.
