That's the guy from Gordon's office that handles the NIL stuff for baseball players. He gets to go on the show any time they bring on one of the baseball guys through the Gordon NIL deal.
ETA - they tend to bring Keith in during football season. I'm not sure who you're referring to, but Ramsey Barfield handles a bunch of NIL stuff for them, and that wasn't him either.
I'm like 90% sure that was Clay Moffitt.

I guess. If he's that good on the football field.
From a baseball prospective, he was hitting 90 from the left side a month ago at a PG event. He's 6'4 207 entering his senior year of high school and a good enough athlete to be a 5 star safety and top 15 player in the country. Feel like that's a guy you kinda sorta have to give a roster spot to if presented the oppurtunity.
It is tough though because it's not like you could see him work in the fall. The first time he'd be able to play baseball would be mid January. Not really sure how you ramp up a pitcher in that short of a time frame. Now, if his bat can keep up and he's dedicated enough to get in the cage during football season (and Kelly/Raymond allow it), maybe it's a different story.

I guess it was. I listened over spotify, so I didn't see who it was. But pretty weird to have him in there and not introduce him.

I agree. I was so confused because he looked familiar and made a comment about playing at Catholic, then Eunice, then LSU. He also looked about 5 years older than Mahtook so I was scrolling through the old rosters. Then finally he made a comment about playing in '19 and I figured out who it was.
Maybe they introduced him as part of the regular show? Idk I just listened to the clipped Schmidt interview.

Thank you for figuring out who that was. I spent that entire show wondering who the heck that was, being incredibly frustrated that no one would say who he was, and telling myself that I knew he looked familiar. I just could not, for the life of me, put my finger on who he was.
If those guys want that podcast to take off, they have to take it more seriously than that.

Yeah I’m pretty sure they guy sitting next to Schmidt mentioned playing baseball at LSU

the audio on their show is horrible. And i honestly cannot stand their long-winded questions. They are usually only as strong as their guests tbh
You're probably right. But, if I'm being honest, I rarely listen to any of them. I still stand by Mikie being the most knowledgeable about baseball and the prograam, especially if we're comparing him to Moscona and Musso. Moscona's style with guests makes me uncomfortable - he drools all over them.

He looked older. I assumed it was Brad Bass, the catholic coach

quote:Yeah but judging by his comments, when he said he played for LSU, and his path to LSU, I deduced that it was Moffitt.

Jonah has played some showcase with Brother Martin boys on Wow Factor. He's an incredible athlete. He's just not smooth, very raw, but makes you look twice sometimes.
ETA: I think he's up to 94 on the bump. I think you make a spot for him if he wants in on baseball and football.

I didn't recognize him initially either but he played at Catlick High, and I'm 95% sure that was Moffitt next to Schmidt.

I just don't think we have the same kind of redshirt candidates we did last year, barring injury
I know this is in regard to cutting down spots, but it's also going to be interesting since, paraphrasing a bit, Jay mentioned that he felt there were too many players in the playing time mix this past year. Sounded like he wanted to have a more focused approach if he could.
I personally hope he follows through, and maybe instead of getting certain guys minimal playing time he bites the bullet and redshirts fringe players to give them a potential extra year of eligibility/ draft leverage. Something I wish he did with Frey his freshman year for instance. I do wonder if Moffet would still be here if he had another year of leverage instead of pitching a single inning his freshman year (I don't blame Jay though because we were desperate for arms at the time). Some guys may leave, but some leave anyways like Kucherak.
But also redshirt rules really are stupid af.

i dont doubt his knowledge
you just dont need 3 paragraphs to frame a question to a guy that has been coaching for 20yrs. He knows what you are talking about

Tommy White got 1.29 slot money ($3mil)
Posted on 7/23/24 at 6:20 pm to Lester Earl
Herring is in, too. Have not seen number yet
Posted on 7/23/24 at 6:23 pm to Lester Earl
Are you saying 3 mil was the slot value and he signed for less than half?
Posted on 7/23/24 at 6:24 pm to FredbullTN
He was picked 40th.
Slot value was $2.3mil
They paid him $3.0

The worst part of it is the haircut. He cut off the locks!

that’s a bit more hairline friendly haircut to be honest.
