I really hope we can keep Larson. I have zero inside info, but I’m not sure where he fits in with the current roster

Where would he go? The portal has been closed for weeks.

I saw enough of Brown on the mound preseason to say he can pitch at the SEC level, but he wouldn't be a game changer. His stuff wasn't as good as Anderson's.

I think his highest potential is as a position player myself.

Looks like LSU is currently expecting 17 pitchers on the roster this fall if Victorian makes it in. This is not counting Brown as a pitcher. That's a pretty low number.

he hit over .300 in the SEC last year.

i’d say he has as good a chance as anyone to play the OF.

It’s a low number, but it’s packed with guys with a lot of innings under their belt already.

Cowan has staff ace experience. I don’t think we will ask him to be the ace, but that type of experience is invaluable. And it came on a regional team.

Sheerin and Benge have MiRP experience.

Dorsey and Guidry have experience going multiple times on a weekend.

Eyanson has experience getting deep into games.

Shores and Schmidt have SEC ace upside. Ware has SEC starter upside. Anderson has starter experience.

Mayers has staff ace experience on a regional team twice.

Benge, Mayers, and Sheerin are lottery tickets but having a smaller number of guys to cover the innings won’t be an issue, IMO.

I think it forces some sink or swim moments for more guys. Which can be a plus.

i think we’re expecting a lot from
Shores, Eyanson, Sheerin, Cowan, Noote, Anderson, Schmidt, Ware, Guidry

and then hopefully get some quality innings out of 1-3 of Rizy, Williams, Victorians (if he is in this class) and Evans.

Again, I’m just saying, in this day and age, if a guy doesn’t have a guaranteed spot, he usually transfers.

Larson is not a natural outfielder. Even if he was, we have a ton of depth in the outfield.

Is he going to beat out Bear at 1B? Highly doubtful. Does he hit enough to full time DH? I don’t think so.

Where does he fit?

Ali Camarillo signed for $250k. A&Ms money whip must have stopped swinging.

He fits in LF and in the starting lineup as he hit .300 as a freshman in the SEC. If there’s one guy who doesn’t “fit”, it’s Jake Brown because of his project-ability as a LHP, which scouts think he has a higher ceiling there than in the OF.

Plus, Brown would be a corner OF next year because I think Stanfield is going to get 1st chance at CF and I think his bat will drastically improve.

Edited to add that Larson and Stanfield both made the Cape All Star Game, Larson hit over .300 in the league and Stanfield hit .265.

if he is one of the 9 best batters he’ll play either OF or DH.

which 3 outfielder are better hitters than him?

Right and we’re saying that transferring is not an option for him at this point. His only option that isn’t LSU for next season would be Juco.

We started Jobert in outfield for 2 years and he could barely catch a fly ball. If you hit .340 in conference as Larson did then you have a guaranteed spot on a Jay Johnson team.

You are stupid. Pearson will start at LF

I typically don’t judge people for hitting the sauce this early on a weekend, but you may want to take a break buddy.

I’m not saying Pearson can’t win the LF job, because he can. But Larson was more consistent as a freshman than Pearson was in each of his first three seasons.

My count has 19:
Anderson
Benge
Cowan
Dorsey
Eyanson
Evans
Guidry
Lape
Mayers
Noot
Primeaux
Rizy
Schmidt
Sheerin
Shores
Victorian
Ware
Williams
Woods

Jake Brown as a maybe would be 20.

Looks like Drew Finley is following Brent Haring to Nicholls as the pitching coach. I knew we wouldn’t be able to keep him much longer. Good luck to him.

One more addition to the fall barring any setbacks. Will be a Right handed pitcher that throws 92-93 with good movement. If it all works out, we should know the name soon enough.
