The injury risk will also help drop is draft value.
Dandydon reporting this morning that "will likely retain William Schmidt" after reaching out to his source.
I still feel he is 80% gone but there is a chance. 3 million asking price has been floated on here by Project and maybe others. Sounds correct but I think he can get that.

It’ll be similar to Cam Johnson. He’ll be drafted at some point but it’ll just be up to the pool money that team has left and if Schmidt is willing to walk very far off his number. I thought I read on here he comes from wealth, am I making that up?

Reporting something like that he better have some damn good sources. I’ve seen rumors of 3 mil but there is nothing I’ve seen in rankings or mocks that suggest he won’t get picked in a spot that will give him 3mil. If he starts disappearing from some mocks this week leading into the draft then that will show that the guys doing mocks are hearing signability issues with him.
Posted on 7/4/24 at 9:18 am to BayTiger13
Wetherholt going 1.1 in an underslot deal has been gaining some steam. The slots are so high now, they can save 3m just by going that route. They can draft Schmidt in the 11th round and still hit his number. Regardless of where he is picked, we will sweat him out until after the deadline.
Posted on 7/4/24 at 9:22 am to Tigerfan14
I understand that, but pre draft when following mocks they can tell a certain story. That is my point. Schmidt has been in the first round mocks. If he suddenly isn’t in a first round lock anymore that is telling that he has a high number and is hard on it. Doesn’t mean a team won’t give it to him at some point of the draft like you said.

I will say there was a dodgers scout (from Louisiana) in a Twitter spaces the other night and he did say he can see him making it to campus.

It’s slightly higher than that. From Schmidt himself

Interview with Jay. Doesn't get in to much detail but I figured some of you crazies, like myself, would enjoy it.

I was referring to tigerfans1274 quote here.
I have read recently that the MLB know that hard throwing righties tend to get injured a lot and that is why they lose some value in the draft. It's just something I read recently, specifically about Schmidt. It said, stuff wise he is a top 15 pick because of being right handed and the injury risk associated with that is why he will drop a little.

Speaking of Twitter, Schmidt like and retweeted this from a couple of weeks ago.

Hopefully Dickinson
This is my guess. No new info, just reading tea leaves and it feels like he is almost across the finish line

The only thing I wonder might postpone an announcement is if he wants to come visit before committing. He is at team USA and today is the last game. Need him to head here for sure.

Dickinson would be huge, but is he a SS?
I went through all of their box scores the last two seasons:
111 Games Started
2B: 87 starts
3B: 15 starts (mostly as freshman)
SS :9 starts
2024: 14 errors (Milam made 5, for comparison)
2023: 4 errors
