didn't arkansas have 8/9 guys in the top 100 last year?
LSU has 4 guys in the top 10

And Arkansas brought in 7 of their Top 100 guys ultimately, lost 6 to the draft (had 13i in Top 90 overall actually). None of the 7 they brought were ranked inside Top 45 though. They had the #6 overall, #31 then it went outside the Top 45 after that for the remainder of their 2023 class. They lost the #6 and #31 overall guys to draft.
Arkansas ended up with the #2 class behind UCLA on PG simply because they had a pretty big dropoff after their Top 90. They didnt have a single player ranked from #91-#245. Had 4 players in their class rank 400 or higher. UCLA brought in 5 Top 100 players, so 2 less than Arkansas, but the Top 2 they brought in were #17 and #23 overall so a bit better than Arkansas' best. They also had 5 guys they brought in ranked 91-200 which was a hole in Arkansas' class.
Our 2024 class on PG is #1 by a LARGE margin at the moment. They havent even removed Owen Galt out of it yet and he's the lowest ranked commit, and the only guy outside the Top 405 overall players in our class.

Charlie Condon at UGA redshirted and look at the numbers he put up last year
He will be a first round pick in 24
What was UGA thinking? Especially Stricklin whose job depended on it

Imagine if Mainieri redshirted crews his freshman season

And this isnt to say some guys really benefit from a redshirt, they can, but if someone can give you something positive in year 1, play them. Guys like Condon get redshirted and you only get 2 years out of them when you could ahve gotten 3 and its not like UGA couldnt have used him in 2022

I know the excuse for guys like Condon would be he wasnt ready his first year but I find it hard to believe a guy went from completely not ready to one of the best players in the entire league overnight.

Top 50 I came across on X @SowerPeyton

I'm a big fan of Mike Sirota. I think he may be the best OF in the country.
But how about Iowa being tied for the lead in number of current players & commits in the top 15?

Ouch that ranking list is way worse on our class than the one from a couple pages ago
4 guys in the Top 25

And stayed at Northeastern when he probably could have hit the portal and went anywhere. Northeastern had a good season for them making the tournament last season but went 2 and BBQ in regional.

Yeah I would love to know how many teams were after Sirota this past offseason. You know Vandy had their hands all up in the NE too. Good for him to have that loyalty.

Northeastern held onto to Sirota, a couple of sophomore pitchers that could have gone almost anywhere, and a big freshmen from last year. And they added a pretty good recruiting class with guys that did well in summer ball on the way in to school.
And they play on a conversion soccer/baseball field that they share with a local high school for like 6 different sports and band practice.
They're probably my favorite mid-major. They are really good at finding the right guys that fit their program. And they're an expensive private school in an area where guys get to play about a month of high school baseball a year.

Not good for Arrambide. Precisely why Jay brought Priester back, and he may not be done with the catcher position.
ETA: Not surprised, either. I loved Arrambide from the beginning. He pops at just about everything.

There’s a 2024 catcher from Illinois we’re looking at, don’t know how serious the interest is from either side though.
Catcher from San Jac we were looking at committed to Dallas Baptist.

A healthy Neal makes it less of a need in the short term, but any more issues with him and Jay may need to work the portal. Catcher is an intriguing position to monitor.

I can say Arrambide is not a guy just looking to go in the draft. He is really interested in playing at LSU and was in BR a couple weeks ago. He has quite a few other visits lined up before draft time.
That said the kid is really talented and at some point the amount of money he has the potential of getting in the draft plays. Just wanted to point out that I think it will take quite a bit to get him away from LSU.

I like his mental make up too. Heard a couple of interviews and was like..."want".

Konnor Griffin has been to LSU a bunch too. Neither kid will play baseball there.

Unfortunately for us, he’s likely to get whatever he’s asking
Jay does seem to be pretty good at assessing a kids interest in college though so hopefully we can make out well when the draft dust settles

Yeah especially Arrambide being a catcher. Just a premium position in the draft. Some team will go way over slot to get the best HS catcher in the draft.

like to other colleges? That's interesting and doesn't feel to common for committed kids in baseball.

I read it as trips to campus here at the university of LSU
