I’ll add Bateman to the list Monday. We truly are taking the approach that they can’t possibly draft everyone in the 2024 class.

Draft is different, more importantly

Joe Doyle from FSS Plus dropped his 2024 MLB Draft top 300, LSU players and commits below (also a great twitter follow if you are into baseball analytics, scouting, or just learning about guys from across the country you don't know much about.
#12 - Konnor Griffin (commit)
#17 - Tommy Tanks
#24 - Luke Holman
#26 - Thatcher Hurd
#36 - Cam Caminiti (commit)
#74 - William Schmidt (commit)
#82 - Cade Arrambide (commit)
#83 - Derek Curiel (commit)
#104 - Paxton Kling
#120 - Boston Bateman (commit)
#130 - David Hogg II (commit)
#140 - Justin Loer
#150 - Kale Fountain (commit)
#160 - Casan Evans (commit)
#163 - Gage Jump
#165 - Ryan Costello (commit)
#189 - Jared Jones
#212 - Michael Ryan (commit)
#220 - Daniel Arambula (commit)
#227 - Mavrick Rizy (commit)
#228 - Landon Victorian (commit)
#232 - Josh Pearson
#258 - John Pearson (commit)
#277 - Christian Little
An interesting list. One that I love as an LSU fan but I do question some of these rankings (Curiel, Arrambide, Caminiti, Victorian seem low) but I think it's a good college draft. 15 commits in a top 300 draft list is something. Would be crazy just to get 5-6 of these kids.

For reference here is the commits perfect game ranking, keep in mind the PG ranking is ONLY against other high school players where as this draft ranking would obviously be against college players too. I put in the 2023 slot values of those rankings as well.
#12 ($5.0M) - Konnor Griffin (#2 PG)
#36 ($2.4M) - Cam Caminiti (#9 PG)
#74 ($975k) - William Schmidt (#15 PG)
#82 ($860k) - Cade Arrambide (#6 PG)
#83 ($847k) - Derek Curiel (#3 PG)
#120 ($553k) - Boston Bateman (#62 PG)
#130 ($502k) - David Hogg II (#50 PG)
#150 ($413k) - Kale Fountain (#78 PG)
#160 ($374k) - Casan Evans (#58 PG)
#165 ($358k) - Ryan Costello (#97 PG)
#212 ($242k) - Michael Ryan (#108 PG)
#220 ($226k) - Daniel Arambula (#69 PG)
#227 ($217k) - Mavrick Rizy (#99 PG)
#228 ($215k) - Landon Victorian (#44 PG)
#258 ($184k) - John Pearson (#201 PG)
Just looking at those relative to PG rankings, you start to feel real good about guys like Curiel and Arrambide, Schmidt doesnt hurt there either. Also Arambula and Victorian are way down from where you might expect.
Champion is #130 and Gonzalez #168 in PG rankings and they arent Top 300 here which is nice.
I like this draft ranking if thats true, but I wont get my hopes up yet

The industry seems to be a bit higher on the college class than I originally thought. Still need some college arms to emerge and plant themselves comfortably in the first round. Even the very top tier arms have a lot of questions right now.
The lack of a true 1/1 is going to push money down the board though and that usually means more HS guys signing.
The slot values added to the list is great context, I appreciate that. I think a guy we haven't talked about too much as a draft risk that is making me nervous is David Hogg II.

in particular had a huge summer. The discussion with him now is 'how high'?
This is best class in LSU history. Some of the guys will indeed go pro and i can already envision the melt on the Rant, but even the ones that do make it to campus should be instant impact.

I've got a buddy who knows him (a little) in the DFW area through coaching circles and when he first committed I asked about him and he said he always had an eye for signing. Now that was almost 2 years ago and things could change but he's definitely on that nervous list.

I think that's why Priester was brought back into the fold and why we're still looking at 2024 HS catchers.

A national guy for PG called it the best class he's seen in his time at PG after Bateman committed.

Hogg would be a cornerstone if he makes it to campus. By all accounts a really great kid as well.

And a lot of those high school kids would realistically have to sign for over slot in many cases being LSU commits as we've seen in the past, so things will be interesting even though we're talking about something way way out still.
I think if we only lose 6 guys to the draft from high school it will be a pretty monster class. Lose only 5 guys and you're talking best ever class level for LSU being brought in. Lose only 4 guys and it may be the best class anyone has ever brought in

I don’t know if anyone has read or heard anything to confirm but Caminiti did an interview where he sounded like he was taking note of Crews and what he’s been on record saying about coming to LSU. Hoping that that truly means he may be a tough sign.
Does anyone know which recruits may be considered tough signs or is it too early to know yet?

It's still too early
Every year there's a lock to make it to campus only to be taken by a team (Michael Kennedy 22) and then polar opposite (Cameron Johnson 23) who everyone thinks to themselves is going sign or at the very least is heading to JUCO only to quietly make it to campus.
I agree with the posters above. This class is so loaded you could shoot it with a shotgun and what's left would still make up a spectacular class.

Griffin
Arrambide
Curiel
Seem like very long shots
Caminiti reclassifying is interesting. When Brady Neal did it I thought it was to get into professional baseball quicker. So not sure what Caminiti’s motive is with that. He will be 17yr 10mo at draft so he is going to still be very young like Neal.

Honestly would love to be able to land all the LA guys on campus, and then a few of the OOS ones. That’d be a really strong class in itself. I’m not really sure what the expectation should be tho

Yeah Michael Ryan is one of my favorite players in this class. I’m hoping for Kale Fountain. He’s a traditional 3B we haven’t had in awhile. Big dude.

The reclassification to got college and be a young junior is something that’s we’re going to get a better handle on once Neal goes through the draft. Robert Moore from Arkansas was another one that did it, and obviously Christian Little.
I’m interested to see how the model heavy teams look at Neal.
