For Wes's sake, they had to announce it now especially with portal opening.
If you wait to potentially Omaha if LSU advances, Wes still has to be thinking about his UGA job trying to get his roster intact and prevent others from poaching his own roster.

To be fair, Pete’s job is to break stories. I don’t like the guy but he was just doing his job in this case

Gino DiMare out at Miami. That's pretty big and will probably create some dominoes. I would guess there is about to be a glut of Miami players in the portal too.

They have some really good players, too.

We're already on Gage Ziehl. Him and Blake Cyr were the two that jumped off the page to me.

Yeah I could see some of them entering and waiting to see who Miami hires. That’s a big name job although I’m not sure how their resources compare to SEC jobs and such.

I think the expectations at Miami, based on the program's history, are outsized compared to the university's commitment to the program.

I don't think they get a ton of support. And it's also a very expensive private school recruiting against a bunch of way cheaper options in state.

Blake Cyr is good and would be a plug and play starter

Is he in the portal officially ? Or are we anticipating that in the aftermath of a coaching change?

The coaches can see the portal before the names get reported to the public. I'm guessing they're both officially in, but we won't have confirmation for a couple of days probably.

Gotcha. Wanted to ask you how involved Wes Johnson was in recruiting? Seems like most of the stuff I’ve seen posted here suggests it’s Jay and Jordan doing the work there. Is that accurate?

I don't think he was as hands off as Alan Dunn, but I don't think he was as hands on as Jason Kelly.

Probably more along the lines of how Frank Anderson is at Tennessee. Does recruit, but the real value is the other coaches selling the name.

Craig Yoho from Indiana is another portal arm to watch.

Cyr played mostly 2B this season as a freshman, but I think he's a natural SS. Their SS was an upperclassmen, pretty slick fielder.

Project im at the Texas High school state finals. James Elwenger pitching for Magnolia West. DBU commit. Up to 97mph from the right side with a change up and nasty curve.
So far, 6 IP 15K’s 1BB 0H

Mom is sitting behind me.

Do we have any commits playing here?
