Guidry draft eligible after next year
doesnt mean he will go
but interested to see who would beat him out at SS. would have to be a transfer more than likely.

Any chance LSU gets involved with the pitcher Schmidt from Catholic BR?
I'm not sure what type is stuff he has, I heard consistent 93, but he dominates LA baseball’s highest classification. Hate to see a kid like that go to State and pitch against LSU for 3-4 years.

I remember when Jack Walker did that too. He’s probably waiting to see who St hires as a PC right now if I had to guess.

Not by a long shot. If he starts and has a good year, he's likely to go. Kids don't want to get drafted at 22 years old. By the time the signing deadline is approaching, the season is nearly done. A draftee may only get a handful of games before the end of the season and then they are starting their first full season of pro-ball at 23. Agents are strongly advising against this even if the player still has multiple draft eligible years and leverage remaining. Had a relative in this position due to the COVID year. Advisor say go now. The late draft/signing date is another subtle way for MLB to get guys a little older when they hit arbitration/free agency.

Yeah, Walker was the ace we missed out on because the previous staff was lazy. He is currently a seldom used mid week reliever at Southeastern.

The shorter draft and compression of the minor leagues are also part of this.
Shorter draft means only the very top of the high school class is likely to sign pro. Taking out two levels of short season ball means that there aren't as many places to put guys.
I still think they should add back in another short season league. But they're actually trending in the other direction by lowering the total number of minor league players an org can have. It was an easy concession for the owners to get from the union because the union is only protecting the people in it currently and not looking out for the people not in it yet.
I'm hopeful that Indy Ball can become a more robust part of the baseball ecosystem, but with MLB having its tentacles reaching into that as well, I'm not confident.
We have a local team about 5 minutes across the river from me on the Illinois side. I plan to go watch them more than the Cardinals this summer. The Cardinals owners aren't even trying and I don't want to reward that.

I don't know anything about his recruitment. I have an acquaintance who has a son on his HS team and raves about him. Says no one can hit him. Threw a CG 2-hitter in their last playoff game
He may have been someone the staff decided to pass on. Maybe the velo isn't there? There are other LSU commits from his HS team, so it's not like he's an unknown to the staff. Would be a low-risk add from a scholarship perspective.

Barbe vs Sulphur tonight.
Battle of LSU pitcher commits with Landon Victorian (2024) vs Jake Brown (2023). Should be good.

Rummel was bound to get going. Lost alot of close games throughout the year. Plenty of talent on the roster, and alot will be back next year. I'd assume they threw Bullinger today and, if they win, will throw Arencibia in the 'ship.

Rummel won 8-2
Starting pitchers were pulled due to a weather delay

Think Rummel brought their starter back after the delay. Kid is committed to Tulane I think.
Michael Ryan, Rummel SS committed to LSU is super smooth.
I did see Owen Galt (LSU 2024) got a double off Jake Brown (LSU 2023) to help Barbe take down Sulphur 5-1.
Also John Pearson (LSU 2024) had a walk off RBI singled in to finish a come from behind win for West Monroe over Sam Houston. Game was 3-1 going into the 7th and Pearson hit in the winning run to win 4-3. For anybody who might not know, yes, John Pearson is Josh Pearson's brother.

I like Ryan a lot. Think he's going to be a very good shortstop in college.

Coach Jordan had lunch with my co-worker before the Sulphur/Barbe game yesterday and he said he was there to watch Jake and Landon, but also trying to flip another player. Any ideas who LSU is trying to flip? I would guess it's a Barbe player.
