Reaves is listed as an INF but i haven’t seen positions listed on any of Blinns box scores. So it’s hard to say where he would be expected to play here. It could be we’re hearing things on sign ability for high school guys or it could be we just really like the player and want to make our roster as good as we can.
Reaves redshirted last year at Grayson, so he’s a RS frosh. Adding another veteran infielder to the mix with a ton of freshmen can help be a stabilizing force.

I think Wes Johnson will attract a lot of portal pitchers
I would think so too man. Very excited about the future of the program again.

The portal is going to be fun. As for position players, I was thinking we needed an experienced Infielder but Reaves might fill that void. I don't really know anything about him. I'm sure Jay is also going to look for some bats (Tommy Tanks type).
The main focus however, should be on pitching. We will see what Junior pitchers stick around but I'm thinking we will bring in around 3-5 pitchers through the portal. We should have the pick of the litter, so hopefully thay have some outstanding candidates to choose from.

The roster limit was also increased to 40 going forward. So we could have just figured out we had another spot and wanted to add another position player.

Less than 12 scollys to give is fricking absurd for baseball!

I don’t know about the guys sitting 95-100. TBH, I haven’t really looked at their repertoires. But it’s heavy LHP so outside of Johnson, probably not.
Not LSU recruiting related, but have dish tomorrow for local HS with guy that was "rumored" to hit 105 MPH as a JR that LSU recruited (he won't step foot on college campus). Have umped countless D1 and MiLB pitchers and some MLB pitchers including HS low 90s behind dish last Friday and mid 90s few Saturdays ago with pro scouts present, but have never seen over 100. Not sure if hoping I do or do not want to see that tomorrow.
Also, do not ever remember guy going from Blinn to LSU. That is A$M pipeline.

Brandon Larson is the only one I can think of. Where did Stavinoha go? San Jac or Blinn?
Posted on 3/13/23 at 10:42 pm to ProjectP2294
Stavinoha was a San Jac guy. Turtle used to hammer the TX & FL juco systems hard. Trey Hodges was a blinn guy back in the day.
Then it seemed like PM only took kids from Eunice or Delgado or Cali

Yes I know. I meant he would be one next year, didn’t write it out well.

Reporting back from dish game tonight.
One of fav games umped all time. Was MLB 1st RD pick Sykora on bump vs guy named Ridge Morgan (who learned after game is UT commit not sure what class) on bump for opposing team.
Got told by guy in chapter first 3 rows were side to side scouts that cleared out after Sykora left game after pitching first 4. He's hit 104 and FB was prob living lower 100s. Catcher for opposing team had brother who was walk-on FB player at LSU. Fun stuff. Thanks for keeping us current ProjectP
Edited to change lower 90s to lower 100s. Prob saw 103-104 tonight if had to guess.

Looks like the brother of one of the long snappers. Jake Davis is the LSU football player. Mike Davis is the catcher, a 2024. Morgan is also a 2024. I think you're right about Sykora. I don't think he sniffs a college campus.

A new 2023 on the radar, Bennett Fryman from Texas. Currently signed with Navarro JC. OF and LHP. Not sure which way we're evaluating him, but I think pitcher. This is the first 2023 HS guy added to the radar in quite a while.

Probably both. Herring and 2 freshman LHPs next year, assuming Cam Johnson signs. I think Jay wants more LH options, probably look at the portal for experienced LHP, too. Also lose some OF depth. Mitchell is the only OF in the class. Prob look for a portal splash in the OF, too.
I think Jordan Thompson dictates what Jay does in the portal for infield. If he stays, we're probably fine. If he leaves, Jay will probably look for some experience in the middle. You can't just go with Guidry and Nippolt and a bunch of freshman.

Ashton Larson too, but I think he might be hard to get to campus.

Really? I was under the impression he had dropped in recent rankings although I know that’s not the only consideration by any means
Have you read that he’s looking to sign?

New 2023 infielder on the radar, Zachary Daigre from Concordia Lutheran in the Houston area.

Are you talking just starting roles? Should still have Coop and Ackenhausen next year (I would think). I suppose they could go to the draft

I was just mentioning the youth and inexperience outside of Ack and Cooper as far as LHP depth. We still may have Bronzini and Primeaux, too. I think Ack will get drafted and go while he has a tiny bit of leverage. Coop is probably here for the long haul. Another LHP would essentially be covering for Cam/Ack like Jay did this year with Kennedy. He has to keep backloading LHP to develop.
Posted on 3/18/23 at 9:57 am to DRock88
Yeah make sense. I know he wants as many LHP as he can get. Opposite of Paul.

Guidry is option one for SS next year,
Do you think that Guidry might develop on the mound to the point where for him in ‘24 pitching and playing a daily shortstop is overload? It’s early but I wonder where Wes and jay’s thoughts are on Guidry’s contributions after this season.
