Just so I understand correctly, could some of these kids in the portal like Ward be eligible this spring? Thanks.

I believe the portal in baseball only opens sometime in May and closes before the draft in July
That's the only window
Now, someone like Lansville, who is headed to juco is eligible in that situation but I don't think Lansville would be eligible if he decided to go to ULL or Houston.

I believe they have to be at the new D1 school for 2 semesters, so Ward wouldn't be eligible until after next fall semester unless he gets some kind of waiver. I think they make an exception if the transfer wasn't on scholly at the previous school or something along those lines. Juco kids are eligible immediately, and so are kids going from D1 down to D2 or lower.

I believe the portal is open for all sports. Now, I don't know the exact details regarding eligibility.
"The board adopted the following notification-of-transfer windows:
Fall sports: a 45-day window beginning the day after championships selections are made in their sport, or May 1-15.
Reasonable accommodations will be made for participants in the Football Bowl Subdivision and Football Championship Subdivision championship games.
Winter sports: a 60-day window beginning the day after championships selections are made in the sport.
Spring sports: Dec. 1-15, or a 45-day window beginning the day after selections are made in the sport"
So the baseball window will close again in a few days and not reopen until May.

I'd like to know more about Ryan Ward. We can always use another middle Inf. Would Ward be able to play this year if he came to LSU?

I don't think he'd be eligible for the spring.

Yea as long he enrolled for spring I think it’d be fine
The great Ivan Naccaratta was a mid year transfer.

Nacaratta came from a juco

Correct. Juco transfers are def eligible right away. I know Ivan was a Chipola guy, but thought he had a stint in NAIA. Regardless, you can jump up and be eligible right away.

I’m actually aware of this I just wanted to give a nod to my dear friend, Ivan. What a great Tiger he was!

I’ll add him to the list tomorrow. Big time recruit, #1 in Texas by some publications.

It's crazy much of a contrast this coaching staff vs Mainieri's had in recruiting momentum the past couple of years.

Even the assistants are aligned.
