Some freshmen start from day 1, but a lot of times it's because there might not be much competition there. Kling, Neal and Guidry will start in due time but I'm not sure I'm penciling them as day 1 starters just yet. Even if Dugas moves to INF from OF, there's still Josh Stevenson, which we might laugh at the thought of him starting over Kling, but he had a pretty good summer league and did get some run as a freshman himself. Remember what his older brother did here from his completely terrible freshman year frankly to sophomore year? Here's a reminder.
I think 1 of them will start opening day, who is anyone's guess at this point, probably depends where Dugas ends up at. All 3 will very likely end up starting at some point during the season, worst case the following season.

Kling can be our best defensive outfielder and it still won't earn him a start. He will have to hit.
Kling is probably the most complete hitter we have in this class.

He might have Jobert and Morgan in the way.
I can't see Jobert playing outfield this year. And if Morgan makes the switch I think it will be later on due to the fact that White didn't work out at 3B.

Guidry is the most important incoming freshmen in the group. If he he good enough to take one of the infield spots, lsu is in business

That's a really weird list.

I don't think we've ever had a top 20 guy make it to campus and NOT start as a freshman.

What ever happened to Webre?

He left LSU and went to LSUE but didn't finish a full season there. After that I don't think he played baseball anywhere again.

What a waste. That kid could hit.

Maurice Hampton was a complete bust, I’m not sure who they’ve had over the last 10yrs ranked higher than him outside of Dylan. Jacoby Jones had a ton of fanfare but don’t know if he got that high

He was a top 50 HS player based on projection for the most part. Was extremely raw coming out. Now that I think of it he didn't even come close to maturing until he reached the minors.

Hampton was ranked 23, but his situation was a bit different with football in the mix.

I really wish Hampton would've stuck with baseball from day 1. I think he just could never tap into his potential with the 2 sport thing.
