Despite AYS’s claim, this site was the very first to report anything pertaining Nippolt and LSU.

Did he really claim that?

Right. Roster management gets a hair trickier, especially if Jay adds another 1-2 guys. I think Jay was willing to use a roster spot on Nippolt bc we need infield depth and experience now and later. Huge infield classes potentially coming in the next few years, but a Nippolt gives you some holdover flexibility as a bridge that we really didn't have this year. We returned Thompson and Merrifield this year. We had no holdover flexibility, which is why Dugas as an infielder was a natural lean.

Supposedly Blake mentioned something about Nippolt or the portal last night. Project got on Nippolt way before last night, and said he thought it would be soon yesterday before Blake. It looked ripe when I woke up this morning, and it popped as expected.

If I'm reading the timeline correctly, Nippolt became a target when Pineda went where he did...with Young still in the boat. Jay and crew obviously put some fire on it when Young walked. Makes me think even more that Jay may want 1 more guy in the infield if he can find a good fit.

ETA: Or, I guess he could've been waiting to see what Dugas did.

P2 is on everyone before anyone. I’ve seen other people use this thread & his info as a resource without any mention. shite I heard one guy nearly read down the list of commits word for word

Project is super solid.

On another note, Cooper Winchester is going to be a dude, and I think he goes to college (may be a Brady Neal situation). Switching hitting catcher. Plays his position really well, could even move off of catcher if he had to. Can run the bases. I mention him here bc I know you're familiar with his pops. They're alike in some ways, but so much different in others.

Pretty sure Hunt did this on radio with another thread, but he at least openly posts here and doesn't claim he has inside info when he doesn't.

He often has information we don't, but if he gets something from here, he won't act like he didn't.

My guy with the knights says he is Micah Gibbs reincarnated. Pops could swing it too, of course.

They originally wanted to build the then new mike Miley stadium with left field backing up to the W Metairie canal, but they were afraid jeff would lose all the balls, so they changed the blue prints

That's a Jeff Winchester myth, but a really cool story. Miley and the other teams had well developed kids outside of Jeff in that age group area, RH and LH. He peppered those houses in LF on the Dixie Youth field, though, and I don't know of maybe 1 or 2 other guys that even got balls into the backyards and they did it once in BP.

I’m going to crunch some more numbers this weekend but quick stat

Out of the 12 that did not sign with pro teams (top 35 HS prospects) LSU has 4…just an incredible number.

He could be either 6’9” or 5’9” if you knew nothing about anyone in this pic

I think Jay was just putting in a backup plan in case we lost Young or Dugas. I do think a covid senior infield would be good idea

So Nippolt has 2 years of eligibility remaining correct?

Yeah. He will come in as a 4th year junior, RS-Junior, or COVID Junior, however they classify him.

Ok, that is what I was thinking by looking at his years. Same class as Jobert, Milazzo, and Travinski.

Yep. HS class of 2019. COVID seniors this year were HS class of 2018, or I guess in some rare cases 2017 if they medical redshirted. Like Bryce Collins, he was 2018 but medical redshirted and won't be a COVID year guy until next year I believe.

love this line of thinking even if you are joking. would be a feel-good story. he was on mik'ed up but made no mention of ever playing baseball again. was a great hitter too in hs

2024 season will be the last season Covid year players will factor in correct? That would be the class we just talked about covid Sr year. After that shouldn't have any left and I would assume all roster sizes will be 35 unless they change the roster rules.
