Infielder, not much power but hit .308 with 31 walks to 19 strikeouts. Fld% .910 7.41 in the 60 in 2019.

I think most people overestimated how much he and Tebrake value one season at LSU. To be fair, I would think playing for one of the most talented CBB teams ever would be pretty enticing. Being a starting SS or Friday night starter on that type of team is probably worth over 150k for most.

Yea, nothing stands out other than playing multiple infield positions and hitting left handed. Jay loves lefties, and I don't blame him looking at a utility infield option from the left side. Any signing this late will be very calculated. I think he probably looks for a covid senior with starter experience, too, if that exists. Would be another guy that really doesn't pop off the page other than having experience getting deep in a pitch count.

I’m not sure it helped their negotiating position that some in the baseball community knew they wanted to sign.

Are we sure the 5 Covid spots are for 5th year players only? I've seen other places write as if the 4th year players could also be counted, which kind of makes sense considering many would have been gone after 3 years and are only here because they have 2 years of eligibility left.

What is the relevance of you posting that? Yes, Christian Little is here.

For you and I sure, for a 4th year guy just ready to give pro ball a shot, apparently not. Wish we could have gotten them, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see us add another person or two after this draft deadline.

In his first year in the Black and Gold, Nippolt established himself as the Rams' leadoff hitter and a great defensive infielder. He ranks second on the team with a .319 batting average, a .433 on-base percentage, and 39 runs. Nippolt has also collected seven doubles, a triple, a home run, and 26 RBIs. The St. Paul, Minn., product's slash line jumped to .344/.465/.433 in A-10 play, and the Rams went 19-3 after he moved to third base and the leadoff spot in the lineup. Nippolt has spent time at second, third, and shortstop this season.

Get him to replace Pineda.

I mean if he wants to come and he won’t count against the main roster then sure all aboard but I’m not sure where he thinks he’ll find playing time.

Much needed infield depth if he wants to accept a secondary role on a good team
2B/3B
Only played SS late in a few games this past season

Like I said I’ll take him happily. I just don’t get it from his perspective. If I’m a Covid senior in the portal I want to actually play somewhere and I don’t see his path to the field here.

My only thought is this could be a vehicle to get to Omaha and play for a CWS. Maybe it gets him exposure to Jay and Wes Johnson and Marucci and is a resume builder for possible future coaching?
Outside of that, I don’t know why someone would transfer to sit the bench.

It would seem more appealing to a small school player or someone witb La. ties but the chance to play at LSU and make a trip to Omaha should be enticing to some.
