Jay Johnson said he needs to be willing to turn down 1.8 million.

Wanna elaborate? Besides sticking him at catcher, idk why he would be worried. He's a MIF and a pitcher which I assume is the plan for him.

Guess it doesn't hurt to move into campus in time for rush week...

Can only imagine the poon he will get once his name gets called in the draft

That's the problem. He's unsure if he will do MIF or P. Just passing off the info as I hear it.

If it makes him feel better I'm unsure if I want to be a MIF or P.

I guess I just assumed he wanted to do both since he does both very well.

and if that is the case...from what he has told people, then we will be fine.

i wouldnt listent to the person above that says he knows people from the chuck and his number isnt that high.

now, 1.8 is a frick ton of money and things change and can change quickly. hopefully he is enjoying his time on campus.

i will say this about Guidry, you will not find a better leader or someone that is mroe willing to go out of his way to talk to little kids, work with them, mentor younger players etc.

gavin is special not only from a skills point but also his personality. he gradauted with honors, has like a 3.7 gpa, and being honest the thing that showed me the most was when he had the back injury and sat a couple games. His leadership during that time was on full display and mind blowing compared to the way 95% of other kids act when injured.

I'd be shocked if he got an offer of even 1 million after seeing the run off of pitchers and middle infielders already.

Toman's slot isn't even 1 million. He'll prob get at least a million, but still.

I saw that Toman was basically Blue Jays or school. He was gonna wait until they took him or he wasn't signing. Not that it matters now, but found that interesting.

That's funny. Jay has already said he is a legit 2 way guy and will start his career doing both unless he makes a decision to concentrate on just 1 of them.

Must be a lot of nervous energy in this thread today. There hasn’t been a 2 hour lull in posting since Jay was hired. ??

Clear through the 3rd.

Not that it would have a huge impact, but the Dodgers just took a SS in the third round.

Also, the Rangers just took Brock Porter in the fourth round, one of the top HS pitchers in the draft, so a lot of that money they saved on Rockar will likely go there

There goes Michael Kennedy in the fourth to Pittsburgh

A random mock had him at 40 a week ago. Not sure what the pirates offered him, but it seems like settling this late. Even if it’s $1m

That Kenya Huggins just went in the fourth. I know his name was mentioned previously in this thread

Fourth round done and only Kennedy off the board
