I thought once they sat in a college class, they were committed to college until their next draft eligible year. When did that change?
They moved to a hard deadline for the draft since school start dates weren't uniform.

A lot of people seem to think they will hit the portal again after the draft. I don't think that will be the case. I feel they will go really hard to get Skenes and if that doesn't work out then they will just ride with what they have. Unless we end up with more bad news than good in the draft. Then that can change everything.

That'd be the textbook definition of a surprise. Any of those top arms would be crucial.

Project, are you going to be keeping up with the Draft in this thread or are you going to start another thread? I can't remember what you did last year.

Adam normally starts a separate thread on the Rant specifically for the draft.
ETA: From a housekeeping standpoint, I don't take the players off the list until there is something official about them signing with a pro team.
And it looks like this thread will retire in early August. After the draft deadline I'll start the new one for the 2023 class and beyond.

Yea I'll start one on the rant as it'll get more traffic so this thread doesn't become an instant message chat.

Someone beat you to it because apparently it starts today

I did miss that the draft was today

Why do guys who have no chance of going to school commit? Even guys who aren’t sure, is there no situation where they can decide on a school after the draft if they decide to go to school? I just don’t see the point in some of these guys even picking a school.
Baseball recrutiing is also done wayyyy out in advance. Guys regularly commit before seeing a highschool pitch.
Also, there's guys who commit when they're freshman and just develop late. Robby Snelling was going on football visits this time last year, and has developed so much on the baseball side that he's now considered a lock to go in the first round.

Ok but for the love of God make sure you use via specifically how that one guy wants you to for the class of 23 thread.

Fortunately I won't have to worry about that for a little bit. It won't be an issue until we get JUCO or portal commits. But I'll find another way to express that.

Team USA and Team Curacao in extras tied 1-1, USA got the go ahead run in the top of the inning on a walk to go up 2-1. Winner goes to the gold medal game.
benches clearing fight ensues LOL. Maui Ahuna accused of sign stealing by the other team is what started it (he was the runner at 2B).
Update: Curacao down to final strike gets a single, tying run scores, winning run was thrown out at the plate on a close play. Game continues, tied 2-2.

I gotta believe Wes flying around the country meeting with the draft risk pitchers is going to make at least one or two guys want to come to school.

Obviously wasn't about waiting to see who gets hired as pitching coach. More than likely told to look elsewhere if he wanted significant time on the mound.
Posted on 7/14/22 at 11:48 am to BayTiger13
or he just wanted to transfer.
Posted on 7/14/22 at 11:53 am to subidc
Yeah I’m thinking he probably wants a shot to be a starter
Posted on 7/14/22 at 12:03 pm to subidc
Yea, or he just wanted to transfer. Either way I don't think he would have contributed much. Whether it was a push out or he just realized that he won't get much time on the mound and made the decision himself, it shouldn't hurt LSU.
